On today’s episode of Locked on Wild, we shift our focus to the 2024-25 season by looking at whether or not the Wild have addressed some of their biggest issues from last year. We start with secondary scoring, which hinges on either veteran players bouncing back, or young players taking advantage of opportunities. We move to special teams, where usage has always been the biggest issue facing the woeful Wild penalty kill. We finish by looking at the Central Division to see if the Wild closed the gap on any of the teams they are behind in the standings, which as of right now they have not.

Denny, I think it's the '9 game' deal for Canadian Juniors players too. Meaning Heidt could start in St.Paul and if he plays more than 9 games he's burnt a year of his ELC so Guerin will give him a short leash then send him down if he isn't ready……..(I think)
Your best penalty killer is your goalie, last year, we didn’t get much help on the backend, which created a lack of confidence with the PK units. One question that we won’t know the answer to is the following. Will Spurgeon be the old Spurgeon? If he climbs all the way back – you’re adding a super intelligent top 4 D. He was sorely missed last season. Agreed, all last year, if the Wild truly needed a win, they couldn’t get it, period. The jets 0-4 record, I feel was an anomaly but I can’t shake the Dallas games, we were so badly outclassed that it still lingers. A key like every season is who gets injuries,
to who, how long verses teams that seem to never get hurt – like Dallas. Good stuff as always…
Two big questions for me are… #1 Will the team buy in to whatever changes John Hynes wants to implement? #2 Does The Gus Bus get back to consistent, high level play? I’m expecting a more competitive team this year. I’m really hoping that at least one new young player breaks out also.
