Great episode again guys. I'm VERY torn on the internal cap idea. Adams has such a strong philosophy that might be getting in the way. But at the same time, one of Krebs or Greenway needs to go before the season, so HOPEFULLY there's 1 more move by addition with forwards. But defense looks to be running back…
I think Adams bought favor (read: stability) from Pegula by saying “I have a long vision for a rebuild, and if you give me time, I will save you money while I do”
Buying low on Trevor Zegras is the move. His contract ends in two seasons, in time to make decisions about Benson, Tuch, etc.
And you have team control as a tradeable asset. Much better than Farabee for 5 years.
Extending Quinn is a great move for both sides. He would sign because he just experienced season-ending kinds of injuries, he needs to get security.
And we really need a RW, since no guarantee we keep Tuch in two seasons
What was wrong with the team last year? They dont foreheck, they dont backcheck, thed big players play small and they played slow. All of these have been addressed. The success of the team relies on the guys we have playing a new style and not bringing in an Elher or Zegras. Cozens due for a big big breakout,
Get Zegras and move Thompson to wing…..shake up top 6 forward group.
I think it’s a possibility that Kevyn didn’t get our top 6 guy because he’s banking on our young talent , and potentially jiri Kulich filling in the role that Jeff skinner filled for us . I was a huge proponent of going after nik ehjlers, or Necas but the question is do those players even wanna come here , let alone sign here . I would overpay but what we’d have to give up is difficult . Maybe KA doesn’t think it’s worth it . Idk , I want him to make a move as well, and he still can but it may be at the deadline if it isn’t before training camp
I would also say that we’re already better than last year based off of our bottom six and considering how horrendous our coaching was as well. Our structure was awful; defensively and without production on offense while goaltending being an issue early in the year . Maybe Kevyn makes a trade mid year or at the deadline dependent on where we’re at . As far as I can tell we will be very difficult to play against
