This would be a mistake…

The NHL offseason has quieted down, but one significant move still hasn’t happened: a trade for Columbus Blue Jackets winger Patrik Laine. Laine, who recently cleared the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program, is now open to trade discussions. The Anaheim Ducks have been linked to Laine due to their need for a top 6 winger and their ability to absorb his $8.7 million contract. I talk about why it would be a mistake for the Ducks not to purse Laine in this video!

  1. Thank for the video you are the main source of new regarding the Anaheim ducks because I can never get any news regarding the team the you could get more news about the Seattle Kraken, then the Anaheim duck since I live in Seattle

  2. I still believe in laine. Those years when he produced at a high scoring rate was when he was playing with a good center. Stick him with Carlsson and he will shine, no doubt! Low risk high reward.

  3. I think laine will be the Deshaun Watson version of the NHL. Itā€™ll be difficult to get back to an 82 game season, & he hasnā€™t played a full season since 2018. Laine is a good hard pass šŸ‘šŸ¾

  4. Other than the size I don't see Laine as a Verbeek type of player, I'd be surprised if he was interested. The rumors don't mention any interest from the Ducks, it seems to be based entirely on fit which I don't agree with.

  5. I think yes on the trade. Possibly a three team trade. I would hate to see lacombe go but can see that. If they put frank on the third line and under use him then yes send frank with a third round. I would like to see strome with a second round and maybe a low rank prospect. I think he would slot in on the second line. This could really happen with teemu connection.

  6. Z feeding Laine. I'd be for that. He fits a need. Is a two year risk, so pretty low. Fits the beeker big body mold. I agree that it would be lacombe going that way. With fowler minty and little Z, lacombe has nowhere to play but off wing. And you have gudas, luneau, and solberg looking to the future right side. It's just a question of what else.

  7. Laine? That's a no thank you. He will be hurt and out for a season in no time and there is no way he ever scores 30 goals a season again.

  8. Same people saying Zegras ā€œdoesnā€™t fit the mould of Verbeekā€™s visionā€ and is a liability defensively, are the same ones saying they should go after Laine lol

  9. How can be the best shot in the league be a mistake?
He is still an excellent player he just needs a good setup man and play-off time

  10. Iā€™ve been saying this for a while. I think he would be a good fit. I think he needs a better environment like Orange County and having Teemu around as a mentor would help Laine stay focused and have good support. He would be surrounded by good young talent and be allowed to excel as a leader that we desperately need. I think Anaheim is in the best position for this deal as long as Laine has no trade issue with Anaheim. Hopefully Verbeek can close this deal.

  11. I watched a couple season previews where they had all lines on all teams and the more i watch the more optimistic i am about the season. If the kids can take the next step and Ducks avoid injury bug they could fight for playoffs. If the price is right they should go for it but i would much rather they go for a D-man. I think (hope) scoring wont be the problem.

  12. I would take him in a heart beat, the California Sun, flip flops and no media pressure would hopefully do wonders for him.

  13. This is what I've been saying since he was put on the trade block. Since we didn't do anything in free agency, why not take a swing on this at least?
