Erik Karlsson is single handedly dominating the playoffs like no defenceman in generations. Despite two fractures in his foot, his wizardry has been there for all to witness. Michael Farber takes a closer look at the Senators’ captain’s brilliance thus far in the postseason.

  1. People will do anything to discredit Karlsson, but the fact of the matter is hes the best defenseman of his generation and will probably go down in history as one of the best ever.

  2. Karlsson isn't a "defense man" per say.. . He's the complete hockey player that happens to play on the blue line, he has the complete. Package

  3. This is gonna sound like I'm hating, but I'm not. He's very good. I just…..with all the god references, I don't know. Seems way over the top to me. He's very good. But there have been very good defensemen before. What makes Karlsson so much more worthy than say, Scott Neidermayer, or Lidstrom? I'm not hating, I really want other people's takes on this. Why him and none of the other great defenders? That being said, he's having a great playoffs and I wish him tremendous success.

  4. top 5 players at the moment:
    1. Erik Karlsson
    2. Sidney Crosby/Connor McDavid
    4. Patrick Kane
    5. Jevgeni Malkin?/Pekka Rinne?

Also, for the people arguing that Bobby Orr or Nicklas Lidström was the best defensemans ever, I have to disagree. They played in a whole lot of different era and might have been the greatest of their time, but in today's modern hockey, being such a dominative player as Karlsson, is just unbelievable. Stop watching the game with your 40 year old glasses and start seeing the bigger picture, Erik Karlsson is the best and the most valuable player at the league right now. And he will come down as the best defenseman ever, no argue with that.

  5. Honestly people are overrating Karlsson way to much, he is one of the best defence men in the chel but not the best player, he didn't even get the most points or goals for a dman and his entire game relies on offence, and if you base how good players are off their playoff performances, guentzel would be considered the best goal scorer in the NHL

  6. He could go down as one of the 5 greatest to ever lace em up. He's a generational player and quite possibly the best in the world right now.

  7. This guy might go down as one of the ten best to ever lace em up. He’s that FUCKING good people. People that know hockey, know he might be the most talented d man of all time.
