Tyler said that they could have offered Holloway more money but if they did they would have needed two of their own second-round draft picks next year which is impossible. Teams only have one pick per round so this only works if the two players are not requiring overlapping compensation. For instance, if Broberg's contract is higher his compensation is a first and a third which means they no longer have a third for Holloway. This situation was very unique because of the restrictions around compensation and the fact that the two offers did not have overlapping compensation.
Brobes is our future and was legit to bitch about not playing. His getting whispers in his ear he could be one of the best Swedish d man especially puck moving d man since Erik K. The guys unbelievable and is only gonna get stronger and he’s the second fastest actually maybe 2nd fastest skater now that McLeod is gone 😢 on the Edmonton oilers.. players like him don’t come around were as Matt is a similar player to Dylan just not as aggressive but maybe more skilled. I need Holloway and brobes both to say but nothing is ever perfect. Great takes but I think Philip is worth what he’s asking if he was on Columbus or Utah or something he’s making 2 mill a year easy because any gm would see his unbelievable potential and could easily step on a lot teams and be a top 4 d man. Again I feel he’s getting pressure to go big from his agent and just people in his corner in general.

Good talk but completely disagree about Broberg. The kid is going to be absolutely amazing. And infinitely harder to replace than Holloway.
The Oilers don’t have to pay Broby $5 Mil, they will pay him what he is worth and may pay less because we had the gun put to our head on this offer sheet !! He will get payed what he performs like !!

You guys talk like Holland was a god…but personally im not impress at all with his legacy in edm..What is hurting the oilers is the cap management on the last few years..If you add James Neal and Jack Campbell its $3,016,667 salary cap for 2024-2025. The Darnell Nurse contract $9,250,000 until 2027-2028 hurt alot too…its 12 millions that Ken holland regime waste. I doubt the oilers can keep both Bouchard and Draisitl next year. Those dead contracts hurt them alot.

I feel like the CBA needs to be changed to take into consideration the pick that you used to draft the player, like your only offer sheeting someone if you really want someone (unless you are doing it to be a dick) so you should be willing to to pay more, it would stop people using offer sheets as a weapon
