Revisiting the 1999 Dallas Stars

This was a more personal championship for me, so I approach this one totally different from the other Stanley Cup videos I have done.

  1. The stars didn't cheat. The refs made a bad call. But that is in the past so people need to shut up about it because even if we lost that game we would have won game 7

  2. As a Stars fan, I HATE that our one and only Cup is tainted by this. People act like it was the only goal scored in the series.

  3. It was a dumb rule. Shouldn't have counted tho if that was the rule. Even so I doubt we would have won and won game 7 but with hasek there was a chance. It was a very dumb rule tho and wish it wasn't a rule so I could have accepted the result as a 12 yr old. I felt sick and had to be consoled by my dad. I wish the Sabres won a cup for him while he was alive. So I always wish we did that year and again in 06. The stars were a way better team tho

  4. 3 teams that i cheer for are Winnipeg Buffalo and Vancouver in that order other then vancouvers playoff run in 2011 i have never seen my teams that i cheer for have any success.

  5. Buffalo that year was similar to Florida three years earlier. Great goal tending and defense but no big time goal scores unless you count Satan.

  6. Wait you actually cheered for Boston over your home town Canucks in 2011??? Are you serious ? Lol and you're a Canucks fan! You must have been despised

  7. 89 2010, 2011 (nucks lose), 2013, 2015 for my heart felt cup wins. Living in Calgary, we have a lot of nucks fans here and they were chirping us hard all year. Boston saved us.

  8. The skate in the crease rule was stupid. It had no bearing on the outcome of that goal. But it was the rule. How can you just throw out whatever rules you want, especially in an elimination game of the finals?
Would it have been embarrassing for the NHL to have called it correctly and called back the Stanley Cup winning goal? Of course, and possibly changed to outcome of the series by taking all the wind and momentum from Dallas…
They should have done what's right and disallowed that goal. If Dallas were true champs, they would have gone out and scored again winning it uncontested

  9. They only beat the Wings in the playoffs once in 91. 92, 95, 98 and 2008 all playoff failures against Detroit. That will always mean there's an asterisk next to their 99 cup win, Hull's foot in the crease aside. Loved the Stars though. Hatcher and Modano grew up 20 minutes away from me. I idolized Mike especially as he was my childhood favorite forward.

  10. You thought Hull was done even though he was basically a ppg player that year?

  11. Great team. Great Year. Man…. was this team fun to watch! Too bad they didn't repeat the next season. Anyways, go Stars!

  12. The first team south of the Mason-Dixon line to win a Stanley Cup and Hatcher became the first U.S.-born captain to win hoist the Cup.

  13. This was the team that made me a hockey fan. Confused why our local minor league team wasn't in NHL98, I had to pick a team after my parents' explanation, so I picked the Stars (even if I didnt fully understand why a professional team wasn't in the professional game).
It became a bonding item, as my grandfather was living in Texas and he was a stars fan by locality. He sent me a VHS of game 6 as well as the championship video. I had that video memorized.
I have since moved on and have been a Wing fan for the better part of 2 decades and the rebrands have removed my childhood nostalgia for the team, but that era of Dallas Stars is what made me a fan today.
