Did this clowning cost the Wings that 1 point to get to the playoffs?

It’s easy to point to any one officiating error, but the reality is that the Wings had plenty of chances to beat teams they should have beat and every team can point to officiating errors that cost them points too. The only blame should be placed on the shoulders of the team.

  2. Yes, but so did blowing a 4-0 lead to the fucking sharks of all teams

There were many moments throughout the season where the wings couldā€™ve or shouldā€™ve grabbed 1 more point, canā€™t blame them missing on 1 bad call

  4. Yep. But also that meltdown against the sharks did too

Didn’t they lose like 10 straight? Just have to win one of them, and they get in.

They know what they need to do this year, they’ll get a WC spot.

Don’t fall off the face of the earth in the final month of the season and you make the playoffs

  7. PoopSlinger23

Yes. That and a ton of other things. So pick one.

I guarantee you go back and watch every single game last season, you’ll find at least one or two calls that shouldn’t have been made that benefited the Red Wings and gave us a point.Ā

There’s 82 games. There’s no conspiracy against the Red Wings. It tends to even out.

I think this one out of all the others annoys me because itā€™s 100% out of our control. That should have been called

I think the turning point was Larkin’s injury against Ottawa followed by Perron’s suspension. Losing those 2 guys for that long was crippling.

I know that people crap on Perron’s play, but he was a leader when the team needed, which would have been nice with the Captain out. That suspension was someone paying the wings back for something we did to them years ago.

Sure, this or any of 32 games they lost in regulation or 9 they lost in OT. If they get a point in ANY of those situations they get in.

They had a 4-0 lead against the 2024 San Jose freaking Sharks and blew it. If they won that game they would have made the playoffs. Itā€™s all what ifs now. Letā€™s just hope they can make it this year

An embarrassing losing streak with losses to very bad teams is what cost the Wings the playoffs.

    Also, fuck John Tortorella.

  14. TheGongShow61

That or the SJ game at home where we blew a 4 goal lead

  15. TheAnalogKid18

Yes, but so did Reimer ducking on the Stutzle bat in goal, so did losing to San Jose after being up 4-0, so did the prolonged losing streaks without Larkin.

The team wasn’t good enough. But we got MBN out of it so it’s probably for the best.

No, the rest of the team not stepping up when Larkin was out is what cost them a playoff spot. No center depth, no playoffs.

  17. MediumToblerone

Man, Iā€™m so glad Lyon stepped up to help us. Husso and Reimer are abysmal against breakaway chances.

  18. Here_to_Annoy-U

Look at the Wings record last season with Larkin vs without Larkin.

That’ll tell you why we missed the playoffs. One person shouldn’t carry a team like that..

  19. JohnnyFootballStar

As others have said, there are a dozen things you can point to. It didnā€™t have to hinge on one play if they hadnā€™t absolutely stunk for two months.

However, this is one of the most egregious missed calls Iā€™ve ever seen. The dude threw his stick across the ice and it hit the puck. What were the officials even doing if they missed that? It *hit the puck.* You cant even argue it was behind the play. It literally was the play and nobody saw it.

  20. Are we just going to give the Priority Waste patch on the iconic jersey for no other reason than pure greed a pass?

It all coincided with Larkin being out, Perron getting a suspension and then a 10 game losing streak right after being on a win streak.
