What? Kate was amazing and you could tell the players liked her.

So no more post-game interviews for the first star of the game… 😒😭

EDIT: Just thought of something. Wasn’t Higgins’ role in the org changed to content/media-related near the end of last season? Maybe we’ll see him more on camera instead. I just thought that switch in role was out of left field.

I really hope Gradin retired and wasn’t just let go. Been with us for nearly 40 years including his playing days and was instrumental in drafting some of our best players of the last 25 years. He deserves a proper send off.

The year before last they had a new social media manager who got pushed out too by the end of the season before Kate came. Lots of turnover there 🫣

This might not be popular but I didn’t enjoy many of her interviews that much, that’s not even a slight against her because idk who was supplying the questions or suggesting what to ask. But it felt like the most stock sports game questions everytime.

What is going on with all these employee changes every year. Same management team. Would make sense if it was a different management team that did the hiring.

I’ve heard it’s a bit of an old boys’ club environment with the new regime. There’s more background people that have walked away in the last 6 months that you’ll never hear about but it raises eyebrows.

I love the on ice product right now, but this kind of noise makes me nervous for long-term sustainability as well as general cultural concerns. Hockey needs more diversity, not less.

I’ve been following Kate Pettersen on IG for a few months and she seems to have her roots firmly planted in Nashville. I can’t dismiss the possibility that it was a mutual decision. (this also isn’t her first time working for an NHL team. She worked for the Oilers and Predators prior to this)

How many culls has it been now that Ron Delorme has inexplicably survived?

  10. >Also gone from the team’s content department is longtime videographer Paul Albi, who shot much of the Canucks’ best ice-level video footage over the years. He was first hired in January 2014 and was a big reason why the Canucks’ videos — especially the behind the scenes and the ice-level action footage — looked the way they did.
    >Three others in the content department, including Andrew Ross, the team’s other primary videographer, also left the department this summer.

These departures concern me the most.

Sports teams tend to underpay employees. There’s droves of people wanting to work for their favourite team. It’s cool and a “privilege” to work in sports.

I’m going to guess it’s just usual turnover where people are leaving for better paying jobs with their experience. Some positions are going unfilled longer because they can’t find qualified people willing to work at the salary sports teams are willing to pay.

Canucks in house entertainment (hosts,dj, in game hype team, etc…) are all garbage. Remember when you would go to a hockey game to watch a hockey game not have hype teams that need to get the corporate suits off their asses.

I loved hockey when it was just hockey.

I think most of us already have a pretty good idea of what Francesco is like to work for, but two other things to keep in mind is that the Canucks demand long hours for shit pay (again, thanks Francesco), and the organization’s president Michael Doyle is also an absolute nightmare of a boss. Lots of good people in that company but some of the guys at the very top are real pieces of work. So people quit all the time but many get fired at the drop of a hat. There are a lot of internal politics to navigate there.
