2024-25 Vancouver Canucks Season Preview

The Canucks finally look like a team who shouldn’t be worried about not making the playoffs after winning the division in 2024.

  1. As a Pens fan, I agree about Heinen I would call him a middle 6 guy. Liked him as a 3rd liner who could fill in on the 2nd for a mix up or a short term injury.

  2. You are a machine to put these videos and whiteboards out like this at this pace, so much detail!

  3. Can you do the Islanders next?
Dailyfaceoff has Engvall and Anders Lee on 3rd Line. I don’t understand that. Bottom 6 minutes for those two? Lee, lead the team in high danger chances last year. Engvall was the only Islanders player to stand out @ times in the Carolina series.

  4. On Puckpedia according to depth chart Heinen with Miller and Boeser but I could see him as a 4th line as well or possible 3rd line

  5. In the short-term that this management team has been here, the team HAS been retooled. Demko, Hughes, Myers, Miller, Petterson, Boeser, remain the core, but everything else has been changed. The core is made up of Benning’s construction, but the supporting cast and coaching has improved by a lot. If the PK can perform in the top 15, this team can contend.

  6. I still think Silovs should be in the minors unless demko is hurt then you give him the starter games. Just so he still gets a bulk games

  7. I like all the changes the canucks have made this summer, and I wish all former canucks well in their new homes except for the few games of the year where they face vancouver.

    HAHA.

My only negative on this season is this year we only face Edmonton 3 times 🙁

  8. Someone MUST say it at this point… Pettersson is a head case. Dudes his own worst enemy. That ego is something to behold. He's gonna torpedo himself, and I hate to say it… It's my worst nightmare, but I've worked with talent before. I've seen folks with all the talent that everyone dreams of… and implode due to an egoic selfish mindset, and they never recover. Most end up unwell… some even end up on the streets.

  9. KIngs, Oil, Canucks, Vegas… strange to think that the Pacific might not be the weakest division anymore… Of the other 3, I think the Canucks have the best chance of beating the Oil, which, again, feels downright WEIRD to say after the last few years.

  10. Sad to see podz go but I understand. Just wish they could have gotten a young dman or a similar age back. Another player with potential upside.

That was a Benning pick tho and a botched one from the looks of it. I can't see how podz won't be a middle six power forward in his prime if he doesn't give up and run back to Russia.

I'm assuming he said he wants NHL ice time and the fact he's waiver eligible hurts his value. It doesn't hurt terribly yet but if he excels it might.

Wish podz the best. Hope he has a good career and maybe comes back one day as a veteran player!

  11. The core of this team is easy to like, fun to watch, and often dependable. Gotta figure out what held Hronek and Petty in the latter stages of the season/postseason, but I, as a Canucks fan, am finally really excited to watch games. This crew is really good at keeping themselves in games and squeaking out hard-fought wins, never mind also blowing out opponents. After some playoff experience, they can make cup runs!

  12. As a long time fan of the Canucks…i know not to get excited or wishful thoughts. They might/probably go down as one of those teams that never wins a cup ever.

  13. Personally I see Vancouver taking second in the division and then who knows. Last year felt like they were weak in the bottom 6 and they addressed the issues

  14. What ever they do this season, they have to give Silvis 30 games. Demko is a beast but we need him all year and healthy all year. There's only one award they want and we want. Go Canucks Go!!!

  15. So if there was absolutely 0% chance Podkolzin would improve on the Canucks, then getting ahead of waivers makes sense.

But if the cost of holding out was just a 4th round, why not just hold out a bit longer?

  16. Christian Wolanin mentioned! Let's go!
Apparently he was going to get the call up before Juul, but had a injury at the time. Hoping for this year

  17. With the shenanigans going on in Edmonton (offer sheets) I wouldn't be surprised to see the Canucks at the top of the Pacific again next season. We'll see, I don't think the opposition is as strong.

  18. This team has HUGE POTENTIAL right now! All the doubters can keep doubting but this team is looking like it's headed for a time just like the ealry 2010s! Go Canucks Go!!!!

  19. If I had a nickel for every time the Canucks had 2 players with the same name I'd have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird it's happened twice (Petterson and Greg Adams)

  20. I think the Canucks are making the playoffs. Playoff success, though? Not so sure. Perhaps if Petey bounces back, but it'll be hard to make up for the loss of Lindholm and Zadorov (even though I agree with not re-signing him, given the price).

  21. The question i have is if this team has bad luck and regresses like the devils. Not for lack of talent though. When healthy, this team slaps. BUT they were very healthy this year, and there is concern for injuries. I hope they dont though.
