I mean, it sucks for Edmonton but we want competitive balance right? Is it cool then that Edmonton can soak up two of the top 5 best players in the world and still put a championship supporting cast around them? No it is not. And I also hear that there are guys that took less to stay together but I very much doubt either McDavid or Draisatl will be taking less when they hit the market. So yea, DA made the blues a better team at a very minimal cost.

Don’t know how to see this as anything but a win. Two guys with big potential upside with short term. Maybe a bit of an overpay but we’re not in “win now” mode. Worst case scenario they don’t work out and we let them walk after two years. Best case scenario we got two good young players for a little overpay and a couple low draft picks.

According to Elliotte Friedman, Broberg asked the Oilers to trade him back in December. Then, if you add the fact that Darren Ferris is his agent, I can see why the Oilers didn’t match his offer sheet. But after hearing they cleared some cap space by trading, Ceci, It surprised me that they didn’t keep Halloway.
