Projected top-two pick Kaapo Kakko scores twice, Finland beats Canada in World Championship opener

Kaapo Kakko opened the scoring for Finland with a sensational solo effort before Jonathan Marchessault tied it for Canada on the power play in the opening period but Arttu Ilomaki would find the game-winner with the man advantage to propel the Finns to the victory in the opening game of the World Hockey Championship. The 18-year-old Kakko iced of the Canadians with his second goal of the game, coming via an empty net.

  1. It's game 1, everyone has to get the cobwebs out, Canada played fairly good in this game, Finland got an extremely lucky bounce to take the 2-1 lead, that lucky bounce could of happened to any team it just so happened to finlands favour. Canada Dosent have a super offensive side and will probably struggle to score but surely against some of the weaker sides Canada will get things going. It's just way too early to tell 1 game in

  2. I’m not gonna lie. The rangers getting kappo is like winning the first overall pick because he’s going to be a superstar in this league. And Hughes will probably get picked by NJD. Buts I’m happy with either player.
