Let's go Sid! Would be a well deserved and great honor for him to break Lemieux's record(s)! Praying for more healthy seasons to come and all of the knocking on wood 🪵! Crosby is indisputably a generational talent who literally saved the franchise like Mario before him. Out of any of the big trio (and obviously no offense to Malkin or Letang), but any pens fan would undoubtedly prefer Sid be the one that retires in black and gold if they had to choose. Just an all around class act and I'm definitely thankful for him. I have no idea who I'd cheer for if it weren't the PENGUINS #Let'sGoPens 🐧
Back when the Penguins won the Cup in 2017 I said to a fellow Pens fan friend, Sidney Crosbys greatest accomplishment will be making Mario Lemieux the 2nd Greatest Penguin ever. He well on his way.
I'm sure eventually he will pass Mario in points. Sid getting 700 goals, 10 more than Mario, would be a coin flip.
At the end of the day Mario is the BEST player I've ever seen at his peak prime but Sid may pass him in GREATNESS as far as decorated and having a longer career and Point totals.
Unless Sid wins another Cup in Pittsburgh, he isn't moving Mario off the NHLs Mount Rushmore but he may pass him in some eyes.
Kinda like Steve Yzerman hypothetically breaking some Gordie Howe Detroit records
The fact that his nickname is “Ned” and not “Needles” is such a missed opportunity 😢
If Lemieux had stayed healthy Ovi would not even be close to the goals record. Let's remember Mario was more of a goal scorer and he did all this in just over 900 games
Don't tell Sid he cant score 90+ goals this year he will go out and try lol
