Bringing in a big ticket player now doesn't seem to fit Davidson's plan.

You don’t want to bring in a guy like Laine in to a young roster like the Blackhawks. I don’t feel he’d be a healthy element to have in a young locker room.
8M is a LOT of money for what is effectively "is he going to be Robert Downey Jr in IM1 or Ezra Miller in The Flash?"
Let the Canadiens take the risk and let's see how that turns out. That said, on a personal level, I really do hope he pulls a RDJ and rebuilds his career
I read an article by Ed Francis (1st Ohio Battery) today that there was a meeting when Seth Jones, among others, said Laine was a problem in the locker room. If Jones doesn’t like him, maybe that played a role?

You got to stop beating your fans over the head with your desire for the Hawks to sign Laine. Too much repeating.
As we've seen in the past, risk is not what these Hawks are about. I would have gone for it from the standpoint of needing scoring however you can get it. Not sure the asking price but it's an upgrade that might spell W's right away. Oh well, same old Hawks.
I would love to see Toews officially retire and join the Blackhawks front office or coaching staff winning breeds winning I know it’s a pipe dream but you can always dream lol.
They might have kicked the tires on Laine they didn’t have anything to lose acquiring him and I would have if the price was right but I’m still happy with the off season we’re getting there! Go Hawks
