  1. What about klingberg ?…I used to want him here but he seemed to disappear off the radar!…I think he should be a good pto guy to bring in!…he’s also big!

  2. Barrie seemed to be a popular player with the other guys. His experience would be an asset. At league minimum if he is up to par would be a good addition. Thanks for the update

  3. I loved Tyson great dude was a cap dump but if we can get him back on the cheap that would be awesome

  4. Broberg was the long term biuchard backup plan, barrie would be a now term back up plan for the PP. Always good to have a back up plan as things get rough come playoff time.

  5. A big, right shot, shutdown defenseman for the second pairing. Don't think we have that now. How about Colton Parayko? He would have been better compensation for the offer sheet twins. Adam Larsson/Chris Tanev type would be nice. Coax Kevin Bieksa out of retirement. I'd miss him on Hockey Night in Canada. He was a knockdown defenseman. I like Tyson Barrie. How much does he have left in the tank? Other than that, don't see any big-time difference makers on the right side. No Ekholm for sure which is our biggest need. Might have to wait until the trade deadline to do something there. We will have to do something. Ain't gonna win a Cup with this group. Is Bowman capable of making a trade like the one Ken Holland did to get Ekholm? All those who think that can/will happen raise your hands. Yep, that's about what I thought. If you weren't going to match on the offer sheet why trade Ceci? Duh! Never heard of this young guy from San Jose. Let's hope he has a lot to offer. And don't let Bowman touch anything! Second coming of Peter Chiarelli. I already thanked Ken Holland for the job he did here. I'd like to meet him, talk hockey with him and shake his hand. I have a lot of respect for him. As time goes on and the new regime screws things up even more than they already have, we're going to miss him. Hopefully, the new regime – and that includes Jeff Jackson – won't screw up anymore. Hear that loud bang? That's the Cup window closing. We'll still probably have our big stars. Other than that things look bleak. No young players in the system. Maybe the young guy Savoie we got from Buffalo is ready to go. Would help ease the pain of losing Holloway. Five years from now we could look like the Blackhawks. Yeah, I'm pissed off. You can't come any closer to winning the Cup than we did last year. Why not let Ken Holland finish the job?

  6. I mean. Barrie is not a shut down guy. In the final where does Barrie play? He’s a healthy scratch if Bouch is in.

  7. The oilers are absolutely stacked up front.
However, the broberg loss was a kick in the nuts. He was arguably the best dman from both sides in the finals. Also, losing ceci makes us very weak on the backend and updates are a necessity.
If tyson barrie gets a PTO, he's making the team. 100% .

  8. No harm giving Barrie a two way and just have him in Bakersfield. Also, I think Nurse is hurt. Yup, put him on LTIR and well use his 9.5 million on some “needs”. 😜

  9. Excellent observations Pat. If the Oilers are able to sign Tyson Barrie on a PTO to a league minimum contract plus an option year based on production, that could be a steal. The same might be possible if former Black Hawks superstar Jonathan Toews has healed from his injuries and would love to be a part of a genuine dream team and contender for the Stanley Cup here in Edmonton. Go Oilers!!

  10. I have an instinct that Ty Emberson is going to be a standout acquisition and going to be very important in D.

  11. Excellent point with Barrie – if he is still a little like he was with us before, our 2nd PP would be seriously seriously scary. And he'd definitely slot in the first if Bouch went down, like you said. But I just remember so many times in our own end, when he got beat badly because he was too slow or nonaggressive. Worse than Cs. That could only be worse now, eh? Whoever they PTO on the right side has to only beat emberson or stecher or brown. Hmm… Patrick – are you a right shot?
