The question heading into next summer is what should the Leafs do with the bulk of that 22 million in cap space if a McDavid extension with the Oilers remains unsigned? Surely, the Leafs would love to sign the local legend should he hit the UFA market in the summer of '26, and what better way to show him that then to ensure they'll have enough cap space to sign him to a max contract… It's interesting that Draisaitl hasn't signed an extension yet… if Drai opts to leave Edmonton, perhaps McDavid confided in him that he intends to "hit the market" in a couple of years, aka "I'm not staying"
1) The core 4 + Morgan will be with the team for the 25/26 season. 2) Marner will re-sign for $12 Million 3) JT will take a pay reduction to $5 or $6 Million 4) And the Leafs will depend on the Cap going up to $ 93 Million for the 25/26 season.
The fans should BOO Marner out of town! Talk about a bunch of selfish SOB's! The core has had more then enough time to come together and do something in the playoffs and they haven't even got a sniff! Marner and the rest of them LOVE it in Toronto, yeah, no wonder, there's never any consequence for losing!! I'm SO tired of hearing how hard it is to play in Toronto, BS it is, the Leafs are the most shielded athletes on the planet, In NY, Philly, these guys get booed for a bad power play. The Leafs management need to take control of the players, All the core players have no movement contract, well it a two way street, if you don't live up to the expectations of the organization you can't expect them to honer a contract when you aren't living up to it.

You can only bring back re sign Marner on two conditions
1. Woll develops into the second coming of Patrick Roy , Martin Brodeur or Carey Price and we have that elite franchise goalie
2. You use some or most of Taveres $ for an elite level dman
If none of those 2 things happen spend the 22 million on a goalie or d or wait for the next year for McJesus

I don't care if the cap goes up or not or they find a way to get all 4 signed… this core does not work together.
