  1. Mathews has been doing that alot over the last 10ish games, he goes I to the neutral zone and makes the killers bunch up in front. Where he has the hole side to work it home. He's 100% gonna be a pain in the lightnings side

  2. I have followed the NHL since 1981 every year. When I began watching 16 out og 2- teams in league made playoffs. Was like that the first decade I watched. In the early 80s Detroit snd Toronto were so bad it was embarressing. Then they were good from the early 90s til the early 00s, but had no cup final appearances or star power other than Gilmour and Sundin for a bit. They will have a real tough task again in getting to round two. Perhaps the most difficult one in 20 years. Game one is only a nibble at eachother. That said, the benefit of a game 1 win is the shot at 2-0 which is something else altogether.

  3. Maple Leafs beat the defending champ 5-0 in Canada on game 1 of the 1st round of playoffs.

  4. That was clearly an intentional set play….and very well executed. Matthews skates in the other direction….Marner passes it away…then gets it back and times his pass to give Matthews lots of space and maximum power and focus.
