Honestly underestimate him please, it just adds fuel for him. I’d rather a competitive hard worker than a kid who gets lauded all the time.

An issue I have with Yakemchuk is how all this dangling translates to the NHL. They need to develop him over time. I want him dominate in the AHL first.

If he was picked by anyone else his ranking would be different.
There’s the RD premium in the NHL too which Elite prospects don’t take into consideration.
😮All I can say is that Ottawa's scouts see something in the kid. They have a pretty good shreek at drafting in the last few drafts. Minus a couple heckups along the way. He can always work on skating better. I think he will surprise a lot of people in a few years. Remember, they said, Sanderson was not a great pick either. Just saying…
I think Dave Poulin is a pretty seasoned evaluator of pro talent. Ive certainly enjoyed listing to his morning interviews. He went on TSN1200 after the draft and asserted that Yakemchuk's skating was truly elite and not just for his size. So if that was the top reason for taking him, we have to think the Senators are confident they are tweaking an already plus tool when he starts working with Shelly Kettles.
