If he can't impose himself into the Flames lineup as it's currently constructed, then why would we want him? This is a shallow depth chart. He should be able to push Duehr or Rooney off the edge of the row boat. If he can't then, bu byeee.
He can play in the bottom 6 IF he can stay healthy enough.
If JP can play a full healthy season I have little doubt he sticks and establishes himself as an everyday player going forward. He has the game, his biggest hurdle is that he is made of glass. I see some of the same in Honzek, which worries me as well.
Rooney can sit or Duehr or both
Pelletier might end up taking Huberdeau's job, if Huberdeau doesn't show up for the start of the season again.
Why risk losing him over some depth nobody? The Flames will be a bottom team. It's not like we'll be battling for a playoff spot and have to have the best lineup on the ice every game.
Those lines are left overs and not projected lines. Huby Zary plays C Mantha – Pelts Sharky Colman remember Coleman is a scorer now – Backs Lombo Coronato – Popsicle Naz and Kuzy is how I see it projected. Forecheck and offense on every line with decent D. But Zary is an "I'm a center play me there" guy and Pelts will make the team. Coronato is the surprise but no surprise makes the team guy. Just a guess of course. More Rebuild and play the kids kind of mindset.
Lomberg will be the extra.. pospisle should be fourth with pelts on a line with backs, coronato should be in manthas spot but we will see…. I do not want him on the fourth line again he doesn't belong there.

But I have a feeling that if Jacob doesn’t show up this year, a trade with Montreal is in the making…They always had an eye on him and my gut says he’d kill it playing for his home team, if this happens I really hope we get a good return that becomes at least a win win…
Maybe they can take Hubs as well 😬🤷🏻♂️🎉

We already know Backlund and Coleman can play together. If its going badly you can always reconnect them.
It spreads the young talent around to play with veterans. I think it gives us 3 potential lines that could really produce points. And a 4th line that can play shut down style hockey and still contribute offensively.
We need to know if Zary can play center in the NHL, putting him and Shaggy on a line with Huberdeau might be enough to get Hubbey back to form.
It might not be the best possible balanced lineup we could field, but honestly player development is far more important right now than trying to make the playoffs. Let's see what Zary, Pelletier, and Coronato are at the NHL level. Give them the minutes, let them learn from their mistakes. Let's figure out what we actually have available to us in this "rebuild". If Pelletier is claimed on waivers and Coronato plays another season in the AHL in favor of Rooney, Duehr, and Lomberg. Then it is actively hurting this teams future.
26th overall almost 7 years ago. Time to move on. If he was going to be a starter in nhl it would have already happened
