  1. I'm incredibly frustrated today as an Oilers fan. These guys should have been signed weeks ago. All four of Ken Holland's 1st round draft picks are no longer with the team. I wasn't comfortable with the overpay on Broberg, but I wish they kept Holloway, the post McDavid Oilers are not looking good right now.

  2. Holloway 18 career points. Broberg 13 career points…I think the Oilers are laughing at St Louis at this point.

  3. @1:19 the blues dont have a lot of good young prospects? lol what? You’re kidding right? Blues are loaded with young potential. Maybe not nhl ready defense this year (but they won’t need it with the log jam that they now have) but they’re going to have Zach Dean, Dalibor Dvorsky, Zack Bolduc competing this year for roster spots on offense. What are you even talking about lol

  4. More agents need to steer their young clients towards this, ESPECIALLY those that can't get 4 million from their current team. You get the money and a lot of times it will end up being from your current team, who has now lost the battle to dictate term.
Look at the Jets. Notoriously tough in negotiations. Let's say they want to give Cole Perfetti 4.5×5, he wants to go 2 years and bet on himself. "Oh, at 2 years we'd need to be more in the range of 3.75". Boom, here comes the Offer from let's say NJ, 4.5×2. They're not letting that caliber player go for a mid 2nd rounder when they have the cap space.

  5. We lost two AHL level players for picks.

And we gained the best defensemen in the league Ty Emberson. Oilers are laughing all the way to the Stanley Cup finals while the Blues will enjoy another year of irrelevance

  6. I’m not a Canucks fan but from the outside, I thought Silvos exceeded expectations when called upon in the postseason last year. Hard to see how that doesn’t earn him the backup job this year

  7. Armstrong just gutted the Oilers, and they don't know it. These guys already have finals experience, and Broberg excelled at the games biggest stage. I think Broberg is, as of right now, a top 4 dman with a potential of #2 or 1. Holloway looked like he had all the tools to have success. The weird thing is that the Oilers fans think the contending window is now open for longer. The team just got older, smaller, and slower, and they think ok now we can contend for another 5+ years. This is the day the team went into a tailspin. Just wait and see when Ekholm loses a step. He might have already started down a steep slope. The Oilers will be bottom ten in GA. Just wait and see.

  8. Did you say the Blues don’t have very many good players coming up? Their prospect pool is legit with Dvorsky, Snuggerud, Bolduc, Dean, Jiricek, Stenberg, Lindstein, Pekarcik. They are loaded

  9. Wow, so the Blues poach a pair of up-and-coming former first rounders with a 2nd and a 3rd round pick. I think this will encourage people to do more offer sheets…

  10. I guarantee that Connor and Leon are NOT happy with that decision. Interesting to see what happens going forward. Only a matter of time before one of them sees light somewhere else, and then it all collapses. This Oilers team is not better than the one that was in finals a few months ago.

  11. Expect when St Louis and Edmonton trade places that the Oilers will return the favor.
If offer sheets become the norm we can expect less trades between teams.

  12. As much as matching the Broberg contract would be an overpay, losing him has downgraded the Oilers defense is much worse now than it was in the playoffs. Add in losing Ceci, and It's to the point where I could see the Oilers move from a contender to now being a playoff bubble team. The Oilers mistakes in past contracts of Campbell and Nurse put them in this situation. With the Oilers take a hit to their roster this season, and in turn lowering their chance to win the cup, I see Draisaitl not signing a contract and testing free agency. The Oilers are trying to low ball Draisaitl at $14 million per year, but in the free market, he's going to get $16 million per year. Draisaitl will get paid, with no discounts. And when Drai goes, McDavid will follow. The window has now closed.

  13. Going to be funny when the Blues finish this upcoming season higher in the standings than the Oilers. Oilers aren't even a locked in playoff team with this weak defense. It's going to snowball out of control for the Oilers here, and I'm getting the popcorn ready. Weakened defense to the point where missing the playoffs is a real possibility. Missing the playoffs makes Draisaitl opt for free agency. Bouchard price rises, and he leaves due to lack of future success in Edmonton. McDavid also bails out because he's the lone wolf left. Decade of darkness part 2 started today.

  14. Demko is a vital piece to Canucks success.
Makes me wonder how close actually was he to returning when he said himself in the post season presser that he probably would have been back for the conference finals

  15. Unbiased on camera but probably happy as fuck oilers lost Holloway and Broberg. I would be too if they knocked out 2 of my favorite teams in the playoffs.

  16. I am a Oiler fan and I am mad. The Oilers have the oldest team in the NHL and to have 2 of our few young players stolen from us by the Blues and getting almost nothing in return is a big slap in the face.

  17. So the TL:DR version is the Oilers Contending window was just closed today. Got it. Can't wait for Draisaitl to sign with the Predators next season now that Nashville is going to get an extra $4 million with the termination of the Johansen contract.

  18. Maybe someone can clear this up for me…I heard on one channel mention about the qualifying offer that will need to be made after these 2 year deals are done for Broberg and Holloway, but no one else mentions that. I would assume that would’ve been a big concern for Edmonton if it’s true. With all the other deals that need to be done and will be done in 2026 and 2027 inflated qualifiers for those guys is a problem.

  19. First of all this is clearly a major fail by Oilers management but secondary the compensation is not nearly enough for two first round picks. Great deal for St. Louis. I expect the Oilers to punish the Blues on and off the ice for many years because of this so makes things exciting!

  20. Oilers are building a team first culture. Broberg and Holloway clearly wanted no part of that and they signed offer sheets turning the screws on the team that developed them. No way the Oilers were matching those offers. You just can’t overpay tweeners when you are expecting team friendly deals from your core.

Broberg couldn’t break into a defence core that had Ceci and Deharnais on it. Think about that for a minute. The Blues are now paying him 4.5 mm a year!

He was a promising player and may develop into something special. In two years time we get to watch him ask for more money or not receive a qualifying offer from the Blues. The guy has 92 games of protected minutes playing for the Oilers. He is a smooth skater but has no sandpaper in his game. He will get pushed off the puck and not deal well with net front pressure.

Holloway has been hurt every season. Plays similar to Taylor Hall and exposes himself to getting hit. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him hurt during training camp

  21. Great Karma for the Oilers. At least the blues came upon these players honestly following the rules set up in the CBA, unlike the Oilers who openly made offers to upcoming UFAs prior to the July 1st deadlines.
I hope Campbell makes a huge comeback in the NHL and throws it in the Oilers face like Kadri did to Toronto but he won't because he's too classy

  22. Broberg and Holloway will definitely be able to improve their golf scores with St. Louis. Who knows, maybe the PGA will be throwing them offer sheets in a few years. Better save some cap space St. Louis. I hear the PGA has deep pockets. 😉

  23. This is what most don't see what Armstrong GM of blues is doing! Top 6 on list are in lineup this year and bottom 6 on this list within 2 years tops! This year and next year should squeeze into playoffs barely but come Oct for the 2026-27 season, we're LOADED! You finally said something that your 100% wrong on! Wow (1:10 of ya show) smh

  24. I keep thinking of Bud Holloway, who only ever played one NHL game, but in NHL 13 or 14 I don't remember I picked him up on waivers and after one season in the minors he jumped to like an 86 overall and within another season was my first line center for like five years lol

  25. The Blues don't have a lot of good young players coming up? We have 10 first-round picks between 2019-2025 drafts now. Snuggs is gonna surpirse at the end of the season, y'all.
