  1. Hughes as a Captain in Vancouver is a JOKE…. Captains have Character….There are at least 3 players on that club that are hands down Character filled

  2. At least kotkaniemi scored some big goals in a cup final run, can't call the pick a complete failure. And now that Hutson is on the way it all worked out for everyone

  3. Hughes went lower because of size. I think what we can prove is that size, while helpful, doesn’t guarantee success or failure in the NHL. Small guys can fail, big guys can fail. And unless you’re picked 1st or 2nd in a great draft, you’re probably at least a year or 2 out from playing in the league. In that time, a lot can change with 17 and 18 year olds. They can either grow into stars or stagnate. Quinn became one of the 3 best Defensemen in the NHL. I like Dahlin a lot, but Hughes has overcome his size challenges and I’d pick him in a redraft before Rasmus. It would be hard not to pick him 1st overall in hindsight, 3rd at the lowest.

  4. If Dahlin played on a better team he would easily be top 5 Norris every season….The guy can skate, shoot, hit, defend, score, has hands, size, and he's tough…..

  5. As a lifelong Canucks fan, I love Hughes. We've had some decent defensemen but he's on another level. My only fear is one day he'll run off to Jersey to play with his brothers.

  6. Buffalo did just fine by drafting Dahlin. It's almost everything else that hasn't worked out for the Sabres. The Habs have made some pretty different choices in the draft, but it's sometimes hard to figure out how much of the problem is drafting and how much of it is bad development of prospects by Montreal. Hughes' size is a hard thing for GMs to overlook, no matter how much hopping up and down the scouts do at the draft table. In the history of the Canucks franchise they have never had a defenceman that was even remotely close to what Hughes is and he's not finished developing.

  7. Quinn could catch Brady Tkachuk at the top of the 2018 draft scoring list as a DEFENCEMAN. that's with Brady having an extra season's head start

  8. Of course he goes #1. Dahlin is a very good D man but Quinn is better. Brady is a really really good player, but Quinn is better at what he does than Brady is at what he does. Unquestionably the best player from that draft.
