Have they closed the gap with anybody in the East?
Are they closing the gap with the Stanley Cup champions?? No. We don't even know if they're playoff team yet. They're progressing, but that seems like more of a question for later.
You can make the argument that senators and sabres are closing the gap on red wings
I don’t understand why everyone says guys like Chiarot is overpaid.
He joined the team at their worst. You’ll always overpay for guys when they know they’re joining a losing team.
Same with Holl. Look when he signed. Everyone knew that was a bad contract but no one could have known he’d basically give up.
You have to always consider who is available and who is willing to come play for your losing team.
The less you win, the less leverage you have, the more you pay, and the more term you have to give.
