Jeremy Swayman’s $10 Million Ask: What Bruins Fans Need to Know | Contract Negotiation Breakdown
A report from Boston radio suggests Jeremy Swayman is looking for $10 million on his next contract.
It’s not a big deal folks.
The player comes in high, the team comes in low and they meet somewhere in between.
$10 million would put Swayman on the same level as Sergey Bobrovsky as the highest paid active goalie.
I’m not sure he’s quite there yet, but ask away.
The Bruins I think can get $10 million value out of Swayman, but I’ve been saying all along his cap hit should be somewhere between Ilya Sorokin 8.25 million and John Gibson at 6.4 million and that would still make him the fifth highest paid active goaltender.
So I still think there’s quite a bit of time for this to get done.
I’m confident something will happen prior to training camp on September 18.
No need to worry just yet.
It’s not an unreasonable starting point for these negotiations.
