BROOKS, AB (December 29, 2018) – The Brooks Bandits (34-3) notched their tenth consecutive win, and stayed undefeated at home, with a 5-2 win over the visiting Canmore Eagles on Saturday night.
The Bandits got five goals from five different goal scorers, while goalie Tanner Marshall (Kelowna, B.C.) stayed undefeated stopping 19 of 21 shots to move to 5-0 in his Bandit career.
Jakob Lee (Owen Sound, ON) forced a turnover behind the Canmore net and centered the puck to captain Nathan Plessis (Salmon Arm, B.C.), who opened the scoring in the first minute for the second straight game, tapping the puck home backdoor just 37 seconds in to make it 1-0 Brooks.
At the 11:24 mark, Simon Gravel (Boucherville, QC) batted down a Jordan Di Cicco (London, ON) point shot, and tapped it into the net from the top of the crease to double the Brooks lead with his team-leading 24th goal of the season.
Jake Theis (Chanhassen, MN) rocketed home a power play slap shot goal from the left circle 5:33 into the second period for a 3-0 Brooks advantage, before Canmore got on the board with a Zach Carlson goal at 16:02.
In the third, Brandon Scanlin (Hamilton, ON) wristed in a power play goal from the left side at the 12:12 mark, before Tian Rask scored from the net front on a Canmore power play to narrow the deficit to 2. But Canmore goalie Logan Dyck turned the puck over at the end boards to Plessis, who quick centered the puck to Randy Hernandez (Miami, FL) for a quick shot and goal and a 5-2 final score.
The Bandits outshot Canmore 42-21 in the game, going 2 for 8 on the power play and 4 for 5 on the penalty kill.
