  1. I’m cautiously optimistic as usual. The bottom 6 is now significantly more gritty and faster, which was a huge problem with the team last year.

Our top 6 is slightly weaker without Jeff Skinner, but Zach Benson could take a considerable step forward so it remains to be seen if this team is able to match or get close to its 22-23 offensive levels.

Defensively, the team will likely continue to improve as the players mature.

A full year of UPL the way he played the second half of the season will help the team get off to a better start of the season.

The prospect core is still outstanding, and several players like Kulich and Rosen should be able to fill in on the roster if necessary.

Ruff is a solid coach and will probably help the team get off to better starts in each game, which might have one the Sabres enough games to sneak into a wildcard spot last year.

Honestly, I have no clue how this team is going to play, and it’s kinda exciting.

  2. I really REALLY hope we make the playoffs. I want to see it because it's been so long for myself and other fans that have stuck around, but I feel terrible for all the younger fans that have never seen Buffalo make it. They have no idea what it's like and how much air it breathes into the WNY.

  3. 3 goalies did not benefit Buffalo. As soon as they went with 2, UPL broke out. He got a bigger share of shots at practice. Instead of breaking them 3 ways, it was just split in half.

Keep Levi in Rochester. The best way to develop is to play!!

  4. I appreciate all the season previews Shannon but I don't understand the point of telling us about the stat leaders over the last 10 years.

  5. As an oiler fan, I really want Buffalo to succeed. I can relate to their situation of many years of highly touted picks, lots of skill and young players. Just gotta find the right combination. Buffalos got the best young defensive core in the league imo. Hope they figure it out this year

  6. Buffalo always has young talent and always has cap space, they keep just spinning the tires . This team is going nowhere fast . The real question is , who's the next player to be traded from Buffalo and win a Stanley cup ?

  7. Really hope the Sabres can make it. Beyond the playoff appearance drought, the Sabres haven't won a playoff series since before the first iPhone was released.

  8. I don’t know if they’ll make the playoffs this season, but they damn well better. Not even a Sabres fan, but no team deserves this long of a drought.

  9. Buffalos problem is and always has been management. From the owners down through the entire organization there is ZERO leadership. No accountability, no responsibility, under the Pegulas ownership the Sabres have literally become a farm team for the rest of the league. 👍

  10. It’ll be 14. I just don’t see what this team has done to improve. They’re too young. They need to add a guy with some experience…

  11. I like that jersey, if they got rid of that asinine gray that jersey designers, for some idiotic reason, were trying to push around that time. Love the idea of a jersey that's one color on the front and a different color on the back. Looking at the roster as listed here, Buffalo definitely looks like a better team, in every department, than Ottawa. Are they better than Detroit or the Islanders or Washington or Philadelphia or Pittsburgh? One or two of those teams they'll have to beat out to make the playoffs.

  12. I know he has been disappointing, but Peyton Krebs is an omission from the forward roster (or extras). This team can make the playoffs, but it is not a sure thing. In addition to the 8 teams that made the playoffs last season, there were 4-5 other teams that were battling for a spot fairly late into the season. Unfortunately, the Eastern Conference is tough, made even tougher for a team that has very little NHL playoff experience on the roster.

  13. Malenstyn is an intriguing, important acquisition: Buffalo badly needed more physical play up front (a crease-clearer and goalie-screener) as much as they have to improve on faceoffs.

  14. I think there were some iffy coaching hires over the past decade… here's to hoping Lindy can do it.

Tentatively optimistic. I'm ready to get hurt again

  15. Sabres improved this off season. Head coach , new system. Gritty , sandpaper bottom 6 now. Goaltending has improved, and defense improved. Secure a better home record and improve on the PP and we are in. Sabres finish top 4 in division.
