I hope he does well. I don't wish for people's careers to crash and burn (unless you're Lucic or Krieder).
If he plays 345 games he'll produce 48 points
Generational bust
BUST!!! I say 28 is more like it
As easy as it is to dog on him, he's barely played in the NHL. He's still barely been giving a chance by Seatle.
Is the genereational claim dumb? Yes, but he was like what 18 at the time? People have been too hard on him. I'm still kind of routing for him as a habs fan.
i say 55 to 60 pts
Way more generationnal Canadian talent than the ones mentionned even without mentionning d-men: Robitaille, Richard, bergeron, Howe, sakic, Yzerman…
I’m not too worried about Wright, he’s still very young and hasn’t played a full NHL season. You can look at guys like Jack Hughes and Alexi Lafrenier as players that didn’t play get off to the best start in the NHL.
Add MacKinnon to that list!
ignoring the 2 points in 8 games 2 seasons ago, he got 5 points in 8 games this season 4 of them being goals, its not like he had a joe thorton start to his career ( 7 points in 70+ games ) idk if wright will be "generational" but he has shown decent signs of being a GOOD player IE 1st-2nd liner
I think all he needs to do is be more mindful of the people around him and he will become that player. Either that or he will be that Stare Down type of guy and not get anywhere.
I wish him a good 24-25 season. Love my fellow Canadians.
Well you know when you are young you can end up saying dumb things, goodness knows I've said my share. I always saw Wright topping as a 50-60 point per year NHL player in a few years so I would say under 48 points this season. Perhaps he'll get more than 48 next season if he plays most NHL games this year. I was happy when the Habs picked Slafkovsky since I was feeling him more as a playoff grinder but I do wish Wright a sucessful career.
I think he will do well and end up on the first line no questions after christmas.
Arrogance is fine if you can back it up. Wright hasn’t.
Shane Yakupov will be a generational bust.
He might break out but just not as quickly as we initially believed—you can tell by his demeanour on draft day.
5 goals in 16 NHL games. Hakstol gone. He’ll be fine
HUGE UNDER. Hes going to be in tough making Kraken lineup let alone talking pts. I dont see him dethroning their top 6 without a head turning preseason from the kid
Orr, Gretzky, Lemieux, Crosby, McDavid. That's it. Lafleur and Lindros don't make the cut. The jury's still out on Bedard.
No need to pile on the guy LR99.
Mike Bossy was a generational talent.
47 points in AHL is pretty great for a 19-20 year old. He scored 4 goals in 8 games in nhl. I mean… objectively he should be a good player, maybe great.
I hope for him, but he is not generational. At this pace , maybe 15 points. If he needs to be angry, he should be against the Yotes.
I am Habs fan but I just think he will be very good but not great go HABS go
I hate to say it…… I think podz hits 48 points in a season before wright
What I wanna know is where are all the Hab fans at that cursed management when Wroght wasn’t picked number 1? lol are they hiding and now cheering for Slaf? I am a Hab fan and was he was my pick the entire time! Funny how things turn out!
He is a young man and will be a millionaire let the kid play hockey he's on a path to a good quality life that's all anybody can ask for its you idiot reporters and think it all YouTube people that look for the worst out come for people
that stare tho' lolol
better then the clown the habs took first overall
I recall this like it was yesterday and almost nobody had Slav in the top 3 … It was Wright, Nemec, Cooley ! I was wishing they take Slav and when they did i was practically the only one cheering for this guy… i seen the pre-draft interview on Wright and i didn't like his cocky attitude thinking that he was going to be drafted 1st… And when he done the eye stare at the MTL table, i knew then that this guy didn't have the right attitude to be a part of the Habs, not in my book anyway… i also was hoping they take Tkachuk but was extremely disappointed when they took KK…
That's more a Montreal problem than a Shane Wright problem 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Maurice richard? Not generational? Henry?
Maybe it’s because I’ve only seen Wright play games against the Sharks, but he looks pretty good to me! Controls the offense whenever he’s out on the ice. The points will come.
if you dont have it social media is meaningless
a weak draft that got a lot of hype because the draft was in montreal and the habs were getting first overall pick.
Who knows how he’ll be until he plays a full season and gets decent ice time. But it’s going to be delicious if he breaks out and everyone has to eat crow 😂
If Seattle puts him on the 4th line, then they wasted their own pick. If they give him a chance in the top six with a look on the powerplay, and he can't do the job, then that's on Wright. Give him a real look though.
I'm still rooting for Wright but Shane calling himself a generational talent is corny af
Fair enough. Labelling yourself
GENERATIONAL means you are pumping your own Tires BIG TIME!!!……Not even McDavid has ever called himself a "Generational Talent"…..BUT….Let's look at the numbers…He has ONLY PLAYED 16 NHL GAMES TOTAL!!!!,,,,,And has 5 Goals in that time.
At that pace of 5 Goals every 16 games, that equals 25 Goals in 80 Games…..That's not terrible for a first full year NHL guy.
And that is assuming he hasn't become better in the last 2 years and will not be given Top 6 Minutes and 1st Unit Powerplay time.
Those 16 Games were also under a very defence minded Coach like Haksoll…."Generational?"…Maybe not.
But at least a 25 goal man with a lot of upside to far exceed that?….Why not?….Let him play a full year in the NHL before we "Wright" this kid off….(haha…Sorry, couldn't resist the pun.)
Is Shane Wright eligible for the Calder Trophy in 24/25? Seeing people talking about it, but I googled the criteria and it says "To be eligible for the Calder Memorial Trophy, a player cannot have played more than 25 games in any single preceding season nor in six or more games in each of any two preceding seasons in any major professional league.". He played 8 games in 2 seasons, right?
For Shane Wright to produce 48 points….likely has to be on the second line minimum to have a remote shot. Mind you, although he was #1 by central scouting there were caveats about it as there were some cracks in his game during the year leading up to the draft and his combine was not that exceptional. Should not call yourself a "generational player" unless you been noticed since peewee league and all the way up to world juniors.
I think Shane Wright is going to surprise a lot of NHL fans. When he was called up last year, he lit a spark in the team, offensively. He would have stayed with the big club if we were in contention. When he was on the ice, it looked like he was elevating everyone around him. 5 points in 5 games, including 4 goals. And that was while NOT playing with our first 2 lines.
