Are the San Jose Sharks close to being a legit contender in the NHL? Looking at the Sharks roster, they are very young, but they are absolutely loaded with talent. They nailed their draft landing Macklin Celebrini and Sam Dickenson in this past year’s Draft. The other big news also is getting Will Smith to sign his ELC this offseason as well. Looks like the Sharks are loading up, will they be a contender for the Playoffs sooner than we think?

Great show boys. Us Sharks fans are so happy to get the big russian and hopefully he pans out to be our franchise goalie
To answer some of Brad's concerns about the Sharks having older players and not understanding why:
1. There needs to be some veterans to help the kids along and teach them how to be pros. You can't just roll out a junior hockey team and call it a rebuild year. Heck, the sharks had multiple veterans during this past season, and it was still historically bad.
2. Good rebuilding GMs bring in older players with potential upside to be used as trade bait to attain more draft picks/assets at the deadline. I.e. Anthony duclair traded at deadline. I can see the same for dellandrea and ceci this year
3. Vlasic is on the team still because no other team would touch that abysmal contract. The sharks are stuck with him until his contract ends. You have to consider that just because it doesn't make sense to keep someone, doesn't mean you have a choice. Thanks former GM wilson!
4. Tyler Toffoli wants stability and to be close to his wife's family in Monterey. Sometimes we forget that good players are willing to go/stay places for reasons other than hockey. He's won a cup, he can afford it.
4. Ceci may not be good, but he was a contributor on a team that went to the cup finals, that's lightyears better than most of the sharks defenders already. Plus the sharks got a pick to take him from the oilers.
