  1. I don’t know if anyone asked this but does Gaudreau’s wife and kids get the remainder of his contract paid out to them, or is it just null and void? Seriously asking I don’t know how this has ever been handled in the nhl before.

  2. Obviously yes, Columbus is going to have cap space involuntarily, I myself think it's to soon and less important then at the very least let the funerals happen and leave room for grieving, hockey is great and all but too soon is too soon, in several aspects.

  3. Not a tournament with khl players right now. In Europe I think it’s pretty clear that Russia is banned from anything fun until the country is peaceful.

  4. ice hockey should be in the summer olympic games. rinks are all indoors nowadays. playing in July would not disrupt the NHL schedule.

  5. I was kinda shocked and dismayed at so many people who's reaction to this unspeakable tragedy was "now Columbus has cap space to attract top free agents."

  6. The NHL should dedicate the whole season to the Gaudreau brothers on all teams something on the ice or league wide uniforms ..they are part of a union .

  7. I wouldn't be surprised if CBJ takes back Texiar from the STL Blues. Not a pricey contract and he is a younger guy with lots of potrntial. We have a lot of forward depth with the Blues espcially with Dean, Divorsky and Bolduc about ready to poke their heads into a fuller role in the organization. Divorsky might need another year and possibly Dean but Buldoc is RIGHT there. However, I do really want to see Texiar play for the Blues. I was super amped to see him to come to STL. We shall see. Regardless, I hope the Gaudreau family recovers. CBJ shall prevail as well. I am excited for the season but going into it, there is a dark aura.

  8. What we do know is the Jackets will wear a Johnny Hockey patch & dedicate their season to him/his memory⭐🇺🇸⭐

  9. I don’t think that there’s an answer to this. I don’t think that anyone, even the organization, does have one.
And here’s another question: how does Calgary respond to this? They’re the team that drafted Johnny, so how does this going to affect the team for this upcoming campaign?

  10. The hockey angle of the Gaudreau loss isn’t on my “radar screen” yet. What the entire family is going through is still numbing. Can’t imagine what the spouses, parents and siblings are feeling. And friends and extended family and teammates.

  11. I think what the NHL should do is just award the #1 pick of 2025 NHL entry draft to Columbus even before the season starts. That way no one who is near the bottom at the end of the season can cry unfairness. Seriously I am a Sharks fan and some people say the Sharks might end up last again but in honor of Johnny Hockey, Columbus deserves the first pick not any team that tanks on purpose at the end of the season.

  12. The Utah Yeti sign Bortuzzo, you mean. Come on, “Utah H.C.” you’re wasting fans’ time. And don’t say no just because some stupid cup company went with that in all-caps.

  13. I mean lineup/Front Office wise for CBJ its no different than a season/career ending injury. So Im sure they have some sort of framework for a plan to respond to this

Emotionally though for the entire organization and really the entire league and community it’s brutal and I dont know that there is a correct way to respond

  14. Would it be possible if Columbus is automatically awarded the number 1 pick? It only seems right. This is coming from a Sabres fan.

  15. Realistically, in Columbus, there is not much Waddell can do at this point to shore up the roster after losing a player of that caliber. Best guess is he signs/trades for a mid-level vet and elevates KJ to the top line, although KJ isn't really ready for that role yet. They dont really have the trade capital, without giving away top prospects, to acquire a top 6 player, but I don't rule anything out with GM DW. What I do know is that he will not go into rebuild/sell mode. It's just not his style.

  16. I really admire your approach to the whole thing. Especially, when we can see that “the video” has 10-15 times more views than any other video recently. On the other hand, people are curious about what NHL, Columbus, etc. will do… I wouldn’t mind some kind of video about this topic and what that meant for all the parties involved in the past.

  17. My question is what happens to the contract I would hope that his family will be compensated for the remaining years and if this would be a ltir situation

This just doesn’t seem real to me I was so looking forward to this season with the changes made with what prospects where going to make the jump and gaudreau and monohan creating magic we got rid of some injury prone pieces and signed all the Rfas coach and gm all the pieces were falling into place for a great year

  18. I think the NHL should exempt the Jackets from Johnny Hockey's salary, and give them a draft pick, but still pay out that salary to Gaudreau's next of kin/whomever is in line over the course of the contrract. I would imagine that's his wife.

  19. The NHL should not count Johnny's contract against Columbus' cap. I wonder if Bettman will let them just pay it all out at once, as a good gesture. It's the right thing to do. I don't see anyone around the league having a problem with that scenario.

  20. i really appreciate how youre able to cover this news so respectfully and kindly. i am autistic and my special interest is hockey, and ive really taken the news hard. your kindness and respectfulness given what has happened is really commendable. never stop doing what you do shannon

  21. Tyler Johnson doesn't really fit the mould of a Bruin, but he has the potential to be one of the biggest steals from the bargain bin…

  22. Putting together international tourmanents is currently a bit complicated since Russia is being boycotted. I know at least Sweden doesn't allow players in the KHL into the national team. Having only NHL players is one way to get around that, since the russian players in the NHL obviously don't play in Russia. Always sad when politics get in the way of good sports events.

  23. I don't know if Columbus has any other choice but to sell what they can and start over from scratch. I just don't see them bouncing back from this with anything short of a full rebuild. A change of scenery might do some of the players good too after the tragedy, and even beyond the passing of Gaudreau, it's also just been one bad thing after another in Columbus for a while now.
