  1. It would be interesting to dig into the details on the investment opportunity that the player is missing out on when deferring payment. I'm sure the math has been done and there is some built-in interest that Seth will earn on top of his salary. So it is a bit like a forced savings plan. The question is whether the player would be better off taking more money upfront and investing it, vs earning the interest with the team.
