14 Potential General Managers For The San Jose Sharks To Replace Doug Wilson

Kyle and JD go through potential San Jose Sharks general manager candidates now that Doug Wilson is stepping down due to health concerns. We discuss if Eric Tulsky is ready to lead a team, Émilie Castonguay’s rise in the NHL world, and if trying to grab Mathieu Dache to replicate the Tampa Bay Lightning. We then look at Mike Gillis and if he can replicate the success he had in Vancouver, if super-agent Pat Brisson can make the jump from agent to GM, and some candidates that we wouldn’t be very excited about.

  1. A couple other names floating around: Kevin Weekes (ESPN analyst) and Scott Nichol (Nashville player development). I like Weekes fresh perspective and Nichol’s former ties as a SJ Shark. Two positive guys and well respected former players.

Not a fan of any of the analytical candidates.

  2. Mathieu Darche and Eric Tulsky are on my list. Darche is interesting because he can manage personnel in a capped strapped situation creatively and the Sharks are going to be up against it for a while. he's also been a part of a winning org/culture. i think he's 44 yoa, so younger but experienced front office man. Tulsky's big brain Harvard grad, an analytics legend, and 1 of the fastest front office risers on the scene. i've got some other from the CHL and overseas as well.

  3. You didn't need to try and sucker me in with a thumbnail like that. I'm here for the analysis(He's French!) and simpsons lore i know nothing about.
