  1. You may not have been a fan of the teams he played for, but you can't deny he was a special player, and the league was a better place because of it.

  2. Taking away 2 young men is just awful and ugly. I can’t even imagine the pain their families are going through and it’s difficult they have to deal with grief for the rest of their lives. This is absolutely devastating and heartbreaking RIP Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau 🏒💔🕯

  3. This is just so damn sad. From a VGK fan and all of us in Vegas, condolences to the Gaudreau family, Flames and CBJ fans. RIP guys.

  4. Nice Job Buccy. dream come true for Johnny to play for CBJ. was a flames fan also. a couple years before johnny got there. he would bring me out of my chair yelling at the TV scaring the wife and dog, what a play maker. so heartbroken for the Gaudreau Family .

  5. maximum sentence for "death by auto," in state of new jersey = 10 years

maximum sentence for two counts of "death by auto," in state of new jersey = 20 years
maximum sentence for drunk driving, in state of new jersey = 12 hours

apparently, killing people with a car, in new jersey, isn't murder…

all they have to say is, "i didn't mean to" "the moon was in my eyes" "i was drunk" "i didn't see them" "i'm still drunk" "mrica" "cannabis is prohibited" "white people are superior"

    us senators be like:

"cannabis is still more dangerous than alcohol"

  6. Did this even make the front page of ESPN (not just NHL on ESPN)? I mean, even if ESPN hates hockey, the very fact is that this could have been a time to point out the ramifications of drunk driving and to take a step back and really consider how you drive and consume beverages. Sad to see two highly talented players lose their lives over someone's recklessness.

  7. The drunk driver needs a life in jail…the fatherless children, the widows, the wedding that wasn't, the parents, the hockey fans all need to know this selfish individual will never see the rest of our society again.

  8. Unspeakable tragedy. That driver should do life in prison with no chance for parole! He was drinking and was reckless in every way

  9. Johnny hockey and his brother were taken from this world and family way too young.. Just keep his wife, kids, and family who will never know their father in your prayers.

  10. deepest sympathy from Pittsburgh. i lost my sister in January..didn't get to see 38… but i coukdnt imagine this loss especially the occasion next morning. R.I.P

  11. One of the best USA players, was so excited to see him wear the red white and blue in the olympic games. its sad how one selfish piece of garbage could destroy families, fans, sports and lives, im a rangers fan and live in cincinatti area, but I thought it was great for the sport that he chose columbus when no player of that caliber would choose to go to a team out of contention for years , showed what his character was, he should have been able to bounce back and become that franchise player and help them take the next step, but i feel terrible for both brothers and their entire families, especially the unborn child and the newborn and they lost their father to a selfish sack of shit trash tier human. The worst thing about that is, they have a family first type mentality and are close, we need more people like them in the future, and it makes it worse they wont be able to show those children the same way they were, and thats something the world needs with the current anti-family type mindset, they inspired on and off the ice, and that alone is a tough task when you see people now look up to influencers and degenerates that are terrible people. I play adult "beer league" hockey and the minute he signed with columbus you would see so many young kids and teens wearing his jersey, I cant speak for how it was in calgary but im sure its the exact same. The entire situation is horrible, but when you break it down it was such a preventable and needless tragedy by a reckless drunk driver driving like a jackass and got road rage when the suv moved to the side for the brothers just for the jackass to think he was being blocked on passing, but I am glad that they were able to capture the guy and not let him leave the scene, im sure that he was planning on doing that if he has the ability to be pathetic enough to drink and drive and have road rage for no reason whatsoever.

I really hope we can raise minimum sentences and penalties on drinking and driving and reckless driving drunk or not, its crazy multiple times each day this sort of thing happens, it should be a privelage to drive and should be something each person that does it respects the lives and safety of others, too many hit pedestrians by idiot drivers, texting, drunk, etc. This will never stop, beause for the last 40 plus years the risks and the footage shown to those in drivers ed should make you realize its never worth it, but obviously that hasnt been enough, and its not just because this happened to both of these fathers, but the fact it continues daily, and the fact we have more options to prevent drunk driving like uber, and other means and not just taxi services, there is even more proof that jackasses being selfish cant have accountability enough to do the right thing. I really hope soon laws get harsher, especially drunk driving and driving high or on drugs and even texting while driving. YOU may not care about your own life or the risk, but other people dont deserve their life to be taken from them because youre a selfish piece of shit.

  12. Nothing but the best. What a great man. Got to meat him a few times. Nothing but the best. This is brutal. Words cannot describe. I’m hurt. As a hockey fan as a cbj fan and as a Johnny fan. I’m hurt.

  13. I want to know if Sean Higgins HAS A CLUE who he killed????? Does he feel any remorse? Does he know about the wedding he destroyed?? I pray that this selfish man will have to suffer the way the family, friends and hockey world, and more. I just need to know!

  14. This was a tough story for Buccigross to report since he had known Johnny and Matthew since they were teenagers playing for BC. Thanks for speaking with such eloquence and respect. I start welling up with tears and finding it difficult to breathe whilst watching these stories broadcast on different networks over the last 24 hours. It's so sudden. It's so tragic. It's so damn sad. Full disclosure, I don't pray much, but I've been praying very hard for God to help the Gaudreau family get through these last two days and the next few weeks. Please ease their pain and try to bring them peace. Much love from this Sabres and Bills fan from Western NY. RIP Johhny and Matthew Gaudreau

  15. I just go numb thinking of the pain their families must feel. RIP and I wish their families find peace and healing soon

  16. So tragic for the family. Huge loss of two brothers, gone too soon. I hope the drunk driver gets life in prison without possibility of parole. RIP Johnny and his
    brother

  17. So sad! He was one of my favorite players, and I am a Sharks fan. RIP Johnny and Matt! Go Bless the entire family!

  18. Hurts to feel that a young, talented, high potential athlete gone for good. These were kids determined with a dream that never got fulfilled. We stand out to plead to remember the number 13 in honor. Being a Capitals fan it still hurts to hear that our hockey’s hope to be future is gone. My heart goes out to him and him brother and his family. Also, remember number #23.😢
