[Friedman] Marner is working out with Mackinnon and Crosby

Mitch Marner has taken his summer extremely seriously. He knows what’s hovering around him, and he’s determined to have the best season he can. He’s also been working out with Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon, and he’s looked dynamite with them.

Marner’s agent, Darren Ferris, is known for taking his clients to free agency, but as for Marner, ‘everyone’s going to regret it if he leaves.’

  1. And the best playoffs right?

    …. right? 😀

  2. Shawn13337

Yeah of course he starts taking it seriously in a contract year

  3. We don’t care Mitch. Just more selfishness.

Edit: if any of you actually think he’s making the effort for any reason other than it’s a contract year and he’s trying to get paid you’re part of the problem.

  4. This post is clearly going to have stupid comments all over the place. There is an article of Marner’s intense workout plans every fucking offseason but this is going to be handled as if Marner never skated in the offseason before because we have to constantly be irrationally angry at him.

    >everyone is going to regret it if he leaves

Does that include himself? Does he want to stay as a Leaf or not?

  6. disgruntleddave

His biggest problems won’t be solved by working out more.

  7. talk is cheap… prove yourself in the playoffs or gtfo

  8. Chicaben

I wonder who is else is there. Batherson. Marchand.

  9. TacoDirtyToMe

As a Manchester United fan this reminds me of the annual summer posts about Marcus Rashford ‘training harder than ever’. The lack of quality/skill of both these guys in their respective sports is not the issue. It’s how they handle adversity. That won’t be solved by training harder, or even being around guys who’ve won IMO. You can’t just teach that, and you can’t just learn it by being close to people who have it.

The Leafs will regret it if he leaves?

  11. specialk554

Nice! Maybe he’ll be strong and brave this year so when he’s getting one hand rag dolled by Tkatchuk in the playoffs he’ll be able to take care of himself instead of laughing and looking like he’s going to vomit.

  12. Chtholly13

UFA year- obviously take it seriously for paycheck.

  13. The whole mentality is screwed up. His whole goal this season is to prove a point? That’s the problem with Marner. It’s all about him him him.

  14. cknewdeal

I definitely don’t want him to go, he’s such a playmaker but somehow the defensive coverage of him in the playoffs extinguishes his ability. I know he’s paid too much, he should have had this current contract after some playoff success or maybe even after a cup win. But we are where we are, dont have a time machine.

  15. _disasterdino_

ah yes taking the summer before a contract year serious lmfaoooooooo

  16. james-HIMself

Only to be completely useless in the playoffs. Am I the only person who saw a noticeable difference? He was being outplayed by Knies the ENTIRE first round. Marners highlights are throwing full turnovers to the other team every pass.

  17. squinla3

People are reading far to much into this, I think this has a bit more to do with the fact that these guys are going to play on the 4 nations team and likely at the next olympics as well

  18. Similar-Jellyfish499

Mitch, if this victim mentality of “you against the world” is what it takes for you to be a beast in the playoffs, fucking have at it.

Win us a Cup this year and do whatever the fuck you want after. Stay here for 14M, go play in Utah for 16M, I don’t care.

    Just win, now.

  19. Showtime98

That’s good, bro is gonna go off this season then gonna ask to be paid like Drai/Papi lol

  20. You do realize that he likely trains very seriously every offseason, and that he isn’t just miraculously training hard now because he’s in a contract year?

“He’s just doing it to make more money” crowd needs to realize he’s getting paid a boatload whether he has a career year or not lmao

  21. UkeManSteve

I think he needs a really good psychiatrist more then he needs any physical or skill training lol

  22. DarkAgeMonks

well thank goodness we can see where his priorities are. Pay Day Mitch.

  23. JRocleafs

Well that’s it, 14.93×8 gotta be official now

  24. Donkilme

I’d pay to watch Nate swat the bag of skittles out of his hand as he walked in the dressing room

  25. winkNfart

haha ok. don’t let the door hit you on the way out

  26. clapperssailing

    Regret if he leaves hahaha.

This team is on indefinite pause until he is unloaded.

Only thing Crosby and Mckinnon should fix is his mind set. Kid is still terrified of men.

  27. Old_Runescape

    He’s a Penguin next year, 7×14.093M

  28. nintendoleafsfan

Its either we sign him to an outrageous contract or walk him to UFA there’s no way he’ll settle for less than 12

  29. TripFisk666

What are the odds someone there can brainwash them so MacKinnon thinks he’s Marner and comes back instead.

  30. MsAbsoluteAngel

Literally hear this every summer from Mitch’s camp LMAO

  31. Android_67

Mitch is a good player and I’m sure he’ll figure it out in the playoffs one day, but fact of the matter is he’s going to ask for too much money.

  32. ApeManMemeStonker

this is a dumb anti-leafs, work leafs fan into a rage so theyll engage type bs. So, hes never taken any other year seriously? k… What this yentah is trying to do is get leafs fans anxious that somehow working out with elite nhlers means hes somehow preparing to stick it to team…….while dropping Ferris name (Derrin Ferris is the one that feeds this nonsense to Elliotte btw). Everyone wants to blame Leafs for poor asset management here considering they basically are going to be forced to let him walk……but in reality its his sack of shit agent and dad who have 0 idea how to do whats best for Mitch.

  33. Normal-Pop-7487

You can’t play a regular line, penalty kill and powerplay without being in shape. Marner produces every year and deserves a good paycheck. I also think his pay is unfairly compared to some players. If you take Florida’s tax break into account Point is actually paid more than Marner. However, Marner does not deserve Matthews money. He hasn’t come close to an award, isn’t nearly as dominant and still needs to prove himself in the playoffs even though his results are actually better than Nylander and he’s more versatile -just wish we hadn’t committed so much to Nylander, we can’t afford them all.

  34. Nearby-Swordfish3841

I’ve never wanted him to leave. He’s made his mistakes but is clearly going to become an even more phenomenal player going forwards

  35. I hope this is the lineup for team Canada anyway that’s good. He’s trying hard.

  36. OneNutPhil

Regret what? His agent loves threatening to leave, and now we’re fear mongering the risk of him leaving?

This is just their public negotiation tactics beginning.

  37. wiles_CoC

I hope he has been in the weight room putting some mass on.

  38. swagginpoon

The dude just needs to eat some junior chickens. He should hire kessel as his health coach

  39. daveinthe6

its all talk until he starts dominating in the playoffs. That’s what he’s paid to do.

  40. Falconflyer75

lol imagine if Marner actually got into a fight this season
