With a brand new coaching staff, new GM and owner who is very positive and wants this team to succeed….what the hell really happened to make this skilled young player who has all the signs of becoming at least, an above average player and possibly better, be so adamantly opposed to returning?

Re: McDavid: Agreed!!! He'll never leave Oilers. He'll sign a massive long-term contract next year that should enable him to wrap up his career as an Oiler.
Re: Marner: He's NOT WORTH $12-13 million!!!! He's a decent regular season player but a no show when it counts….in the playoffs. Also….he's too darn soft!!!!
Re: Demko: his career could be in jeopardy. One bad twist, turn, injury, hit and that could be it. A goalie with knee issues is not very reassuring.
Re: the "Little bundle of hate": Marchand takes a licking and keeps on ticking OR in his case GIVES A LICKING!!!!😂😂😂 Love him or hate him….darn guy shows up every year ready to compete.
Re: Habs/CBJ dealing: I could see a trade happening but CBJ can sign a UFA as filler for the short term BUT a deal with Habs makes sense…..could help both teams.

Robertson to CGY, a 2nd and a conditional 3rd, which turns into a 2nd the following season if toronto makes it past the 2nd round or a 1st if they make it to the finals to CGY for Jonathan Huberdeau and a 4th or something like that…. Would do Robertson good to be in cgy to help the younger stars out there. Now, am i crazy for thinking like this? Some would say yes, but some would also say no. This needs to be one of those deals that gives Toronto an edge in terms of skill, but gives Calgary an edge with picks to rebuild the team

we've heard the zegras rumors before. they want stuff we're not willing to give. it's not news. they want guys like guhle, mailloux, or reinbacher, plus a 1st. hell no. we're not desperate. we can hope kirby dach is healthy for once, wait for hage, or sign or trade for someone next offseason. eventually we want to win a cup and we won't do it with guys like zegras, who've never met their own team's goalies, and are more style than substance. we will do it with guys like the three dmen i mentioned.
Conroy NEEDS to get Robertson. He's going to be a good one! WHY shouldn't the Flames take a chance on him. Cheap, hungry….there's no down side here.
Any concern for the Oilers re: getting Robertson when he was riding a high 14.6 sh% last season? That's roughly double his normal number, in a small sample size.
Robertson to the Jackets for a 3rd and a 5th, they could really use a young up and coming scorer on their roster.

I look at Detroit and I feel like they’re turning back to their old ways of having older players on their roster. Like when this team was terrible a few years ago and rebuilding they had all young players and of course that’s just what a rebuild is you get older players. But signing guys like Compher, Copp, Charroit, holl.. etc.. all older guys taking up valuable contracts you could be giving to these young players. Not to mention that those players just listed are not living up to their contracts they’re not good players. I’m not really a believer in the yserman plan anymore I think he’s starting to fall off

Maybe I’m mistaken, but with Jesper Fast on LTIR, Hurricanes could have a spot for Robertson.
They could really use some more offensive upside in the top 9.
Gallagher still has fight, he should take some breaks during season to stay fresh, seemed to work in latter half of last season. I love him but would not mind seeing him traded.
Anderson was the only “PWF” for last couple of seasons, in top 6 role, with his shoulder injuries maybe it was too much to ask for him to be doing all the physical work while expected to score, Slaf / Dach / Laine all big bodies now on top 6 should help shoulder that responsibility, Anderson could shine in a 3rd line role, he has the tools and hopefully he wants redemption. Hopefully becomes a movable asset again if not a power horse to play out his contract in bottom 6 & PK role
Armia looked like a different player when he came back from AHL stint, good on PK, could be slotted in on PP as net front, could play anywhere from 2-4th line as needed, I don’t mind keeping him another 1-2 years as a good vet.
Dvorak needs to get moved, Beck looked ready 2 camps ago, he should be playing 3rd or 4th line C.
Evans is very versatile, great face off kid, low cap hit, I don’t mind keeping him either until a Kapanen or Koivu are ready, maybe sign him to team friendly 2 year deal.
Armia / Evans / DVO are easy to move by deadline due to their contracts, just need to make sure replacements fill those roles, and that there is depth in case of injuries during season.

Matheson trade would move Ghule back to LD and open up a RD spot, the return could be high draft picks or a big young gritty good skating PWF ( Dylan Holloway / Dakota Joshua type ) for middle / bottom 6
Barron (+ asset ) trade to Pittsburgh for Letang, if Pittsburgh retains the Habs send a high pick
Ghule TWD – Letang TWD
Hutson OFD – Savard OFD
Wifi TWD – Mailloux TWD
Still have
Strubble – Reinbacher
Trudeau – Engstrom
as depth pieces
Matheson is a defensive liability, forcing Ghule to do all the defending on his wrong side, potentially why Ghule gets hit so much.
Hutson should take over as PP1 QB, Mailloux PP2, Wifi can split some time as well
Bring back Savard for another 1-2 years as a veteran Dad on team pair to Hutson until Reinbacher is ready
Savard / Letang both have Stanley cup pedigree 4 cups between them and could really help establish a Stanley Cup winning D core mentality
Toronto has a high octane scorer in Robertson but doesn't know how to use him is pathetic. Please free him to a team that can use a top liner.
