Virtanen was pretty slow in the hockey iq department

  2. sasksasquatch

    Andrew Alberts

The only thing I even remember of him as a Canucks player is that he was the one that turned the puck over vs LA that lead to Luongo absolutely robbing Ryan Smyth in the 2010 playoffs.

  3. De_Floppss

There’s a reason that Dana Murzyn’s nickname was The Pylon

  4. redditguyinthehouse

SOB, like the guy but not exactly lightning

  5. BetterAd1611

Another nod for Murzyn. The molasses man

  6. HesOneShot92

Eric Gudbranson? He was big tough and slow

  7. MaximumOverfart

Dana Murzyn is probably for the win, but an overweight and mostly drunk Vladimir Krutov should be considered.

  8. Obvious-Property-236

Sestito for sure. He looked tired from sitting in the penalty box

  9. Hamshaggy

I’m going with Dana Murzyn or Robert Dirk, both those guys made Edler look like Bure..

  10. GrizSeahawk84

There’s a big consensus for Dana Murzyn here but my nod would go to Tom Sestito.

  11. Give-Me-The-Bat

Dana Murzyn has no match in this one.

Murzyn. Which is really a testament to his ability to be so effective (particularly as Lumme’s partner). Dana made the absolute most of what he had, and was a big part of those early 90s teams, despite his shortcomings in the skating dept.

  13. Kyle Wellwood. if the guy had any speed at all, he could’ve been a star. Silky silky mitts.

  14. piechartreuse

Murzyn was on my mind before I saw the other comments. Baron too.

  15. Murzyn. Even if it’s not the correct answer, it’s the one required for the meme to be correct!

  16. rambunctiouscanadian

Olli Juolevi just for the bag skate picture

  17. Hyper0059

My one vivid memory of slow. Was watching Sestito on a breakaway, and have yet to see a player lose his ground as fast as Sestito did.

But of course Murzyn may be slower, I’ve just never seen him play.

Those of you who aren’t choosing Dana Murzyn are showing your youth. In an Era of clutch and grab and slow hockey, he was THE standout pylon. His ability to clear a net front is elite though.

  19. laundro_mat

Mats Sundin looked like he was skating in quicksand during his short stint as a Canuck

  20. W1den1nggyre

Kyle Wellwood, specifically coming into training camp with zero conditioning
