I don't really understand why the delay of game penalty has to be a coaches challenge to verify. The league should just automatically review the footage on penalty calls. If its obvious it get cleared quickly and if its not, well it gets the warranted review.

It's not that they didn't like arguing about every call, it's that video challenge/replay wasn't available. I think the only reason why they didn't use the coaches challenge, is because the technology wasn't there, not because they didn't see the benefit. If the level of video review was available during Luds time, they would have used it too. I agree about slowing down the game, but it's about moving forward to some extent. I don't want it to be college football either, but we don't want to hear about the "foot in the crease" over and over again. Get the call right and fix the whining later. Luds mentioned that every kid stands up to complain, but instead we complained after the fact. I would rather complain right away until the call is right, and let's embrace technology to enhance the game.
