Cam Fowler possibility?

As stated above, Cam Fowler is believed to be working with the Ducks to find a new home.

While there are probably easier fits for Fowler, especially with his cap hit, I think if the Ducks are willing to retain significant (35-50%) salary for 1.5 seasons, he might be someone that the Rangers look towards as a stop gap, especially in the cap strapped 2025-26 season and with the uncertainty of Lindgren and Trouba next summer.

A look under the hood at first sight looks rough, with almost all 5v5 deep in the red. But the context is key. Fowler played an insane 24 minutes a night on a Ducks team that had very little stability outside him and Radko Gudas, made even worse by the Drysdale trade mid season. His role alongside Gudas was to take some of the toughest matchups and allow guys like Mintyukov, Zellweger, and Lacombe tread water.

On the Rangers, Fowler would be more in line with 18-20 minutes a night. One could see a similar role for him as Florida did with OEL, at a similar price of around 3.25-4 million AAV depending on the cap retention.

Same Cam Fowler we drafted Dylan McIlrath ahead of?!?!

Are we just going to keep going through the 2010 draft class and trading for all the good players we could have drafted if we didn’t take Washington Capitals legend Dylan McIlrath 10th overall?

  3. Pass. Unless its 1 for 1 with Trouba, which i highly doubt.

Five years ago, maybe. Not now.

Unless it means Trouba going the other way it makes no sense

This solves no problem the rangers have. It’s right wing and center depth that’s the issues with

As much as I can sympathize with the fact that NYR needs an upgrade on defense, there are many little things that are being overlooked looked with this hypothetical scenario here.

Does Fowler want to be in NY, what would it cost trade wise to get him here retained or not, how would NYR fit him under the cap, where in the lineup would he play, what would happen to Jones, what does having Fowler in the lineup for an extra year mean for the cap hits of Laf and Miller and Igor or the much needed RW that everyone else in here is talking about. All of that also doesn’t take into account that this trade would be taking place between two of the most stubborn GMs in the league.
