A lot of people are probably going to point the finger at Willie D, but the Harry Neale/Tom Watt years were dark times.  Watt was an assistant to Neale, and we brought him back to head coach for two seasons of 23 and 29 wins.

Ummm how about MIKE KEENAN AND FUCK MESSIER

  3. mephnick

It’s Keenan, but Torts stupid ass decisions should put him at honorable mention

  4. Seabass7200

I remember Tom Renney being pretty bad when he was here.

  5. canucksrule

Keenan is the worst I ever saw. Absolutely no redeeming qualities.

  6. liquidpig

We had a lot of coaches with bad years in the standings, but Keenan was also just a jerk.

Objectively, the worst coach was Bill Laforge. But adding in personality, you have to go with Keenan.

  8. EddyAteDynamite1

IIRC, the team tuned Laforge out during his first training camp after wanting them to sing songs together to build camraderie. It takes a special form of bad to lose a team that fast.

David Booth. Some will argue he wasn’t a coach but that’s just semantics

Keenan, and he can go to hell along with Messier

Keenan: overrated coach, awful human being

Bill LaForge. Keenan was an egomaniac that was part of the toxic Messier years, but LaForge was flat-out incompetent. Like imagine if you took your high-school gym teacher who coached floor hockey and made him head coach of an NHL team.

It’s Laforge but he was only here for 20 games so people don’t remember him.

  14. I can’t hate on Keenan, he made some key trades that set us up for some amazing hockey years down the road. When Keenan arrived we were four years past the cup run and needed to rebuild.

I’m going to say Tortorella. He was brought in to “get us over the hump”, one season, barely over .500, missed the playoffs. Willie came in an we made it to the playoffs, nearly 20 games over .500 without Kesler.

I think mike Keenan is going to be the popular answer but the true answer should be Bill Laforge.

    So Bill Laforge it is.

    Still, f**k Keenan 😆

Keenan will win but shout out to Torts

  17. Surprised to see so much hate for Willy. This organization was a dumpster fire of drama when he was HC. I would hardly pin the team’s lack of success on him.

I mean, Keenan, but I want to shout out Willie Desjardins. I’m sure there were worse coaches in the grand scheme of things, but fuck that guy drove me crazy. The stupid little clipboard, the “real good” comments, and so on. It didn’t help that the team was complete dog shit during the years he was here.

Feel like Daniel with 16 OT GWG (and the record) plus 15 OTA should have this. Trevor was many things and a great leader, but this isn’t his to have.
