ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Blues owners completed a purchase for full ownership of an iconic venue, the team announced Monday.

Stifel Theatre’s long-term lease is now owned by the St. Louis Blues ownership group, buying out Joe McKee III and Chris McKee.

“On behalf of the Blues organization and the Stifel Theatre staff, I want to thank Joe and Chris McKee for the indispensable role they played in restoring the grandeur of Stifel Theatre,” said St. Louis Blues Chairman Tom Stillman in an emailed news release. “Joe and Chris made substantial investments, and took on significant risks, largely because of their dedication to St. Louis, resulting in a civic asset that is one of the most spectacular venues in the country. Joe and Chris are exceptional St. Louis supporters, and they have been exemplary partners. We are forever grateful for their contributions and their continued friendship with the Blues and Stifel Theatre.”

The Blues say the change will streamline operations.

The Kiel Opera House first hosted events in 1934. It was reopened in 2011 as Peabody Opera House and renamed Stifel Theatre in 2018.

The St. Louis Symphony currently uses Stifel Theatre, while Powell Hall is renovated and expanded.

  2. Blues just Uno reversed that sponsorship. Now have all the Stifel staff have a Blues logo patch.
