This is honestly devastating. Luke was poised for a HUGE breakout season. Thereās no way heās ready for the start of the season, and Iām very concerned about how much time heāll miss. Iām also concerned regarding any long-term impact. Heās so young and to be dealing with a shoulder or arm injury already doesnāt instill a lot of confidence for the future. As we know, Jack has struggled with injuries too and I hope this doesnāt mean Luke is going to follow in his footsteps and be chronically injured.
A sling is bad news. Itās definitely going to keep him out of camp, unfortunately. But on the flip side, I truly hope they donāt rush him back. Give him all the time he needs to heal. I donāt want him anywhere near the ice until he is absolutely 100%. Itās not worth the risk of rushing him back, throwing him out there at 80%, and then having him get hurt again, or hurt even worse because he wasnāt fully healed.
Man, what a mess.
What drives me nuts is you know The Devils will release little to no info regarding it. It will be listed as an upper body injury for the next 2 months….FFS!
Nemec injured, Luke injured, Filmon injured. It's already devastating and the season didnt even startšš

Softest brothers in the league. Get rid of them. Rather give the big money to Nemec. At least the Devils will play actual defense to start the season.
Ugh…..I can't start the season with PSD from "Injury 23/24 season". Hopefully it's not serious and he's just taking precautions. Still gives me a hole in my stomach feeling.
I know we all have PTSD on injuries from ly, but I'm going to wait until something is released around camp about a timeline before freaking out. Not great to see, but we have no idea whatsoever what we're actually looking yet.
At least maybe it gives a chance to Hatakka to start a season and eliminate constant Little Hughes turnovers, inability to be the main PP blue liner, no more Hughes to Hughes only passes. At least the Devils might have a chance to start the season strongly
This is brutal! Sling is bad news. Hope he didnāt do something stupid on his 21st birthday! Gotta believe the Devils know. They have to be more forthcoming with injuryāsā¦drives me crazy! At least we got depth in the D category. Not the news I wanted before camp. LGD!

New Utica Devets – Season 2
No need to panic just yet . Not a good news of course but neither Luke or Nemec were foundational blocks of our defense last season . On the positive side we have healthy Hamilton , newly acquired Dillon and Pesce and bunch of promising prospects . I would like to see DeSimone on the big team again .

Now the signings of Kovacevic, resigning of Hattaka and DeSimone seem like a pure genius move of Fitzy. As you said, Depth will become so important to us this season. We have learned from the past….hopefully
Luke will be out 6-8 weeks š Apparently hurt during off-season training. It sucks but at least it's early in the season so he should only miss 2-4 weeks of the season (fingers crossed). This is why they have the depth AND it will help having Dougie back.
