Broke his back carrying this team for 3 years.

But seriously, holy hell.. donā€™t like that.

So now we have an explanation for his struggles at the end of last year with the knowledge that heā€™s going to be healthy and good to go for the beginning of this year.. believe it or not, this is GOOD news.

This is good news, it explains why he wasnā€™t himself last year.

My only concern is if itā€™s something chronic. Minor back surgery is surprisingly routine, but in the NHL there are ā€œback guysā€ who are known for constantly missing time with back problems. Bossy is the most obvious example

Kind of refreshing getting some actual information and not some vague upper, Lower body injury. I hope Ilya is ready for the season.

The beer league player in me knew it was his back. He just didnā€™t look right after February.

Vasilevsky had back surgery last year and wasn’t the same goalie.

Nice to finally have clarification on what he was dealing with.

Finally some concrete stuff to work with.

That said, wasn’t it deemed a minor injury last week or am I tripping? Back surgery is not minor so idk about that lol just hope #30 has/has had a speedy recovery because when he’s right, he’s top tier.

No one said he had a broken back but do we know what type of surgery?

Anyone know the procedure that was done ?

This is probably an unpopular opinion but with it being a back injury, I kinda get why Lou would want to keep it under wraps and not release a bunch of infoā€¦ as fans we obviously want to know everything, but also giving Sorokin time to rest and heal without having fans and the media pressuring him for daily updates is a good thing.

The last thing he needs is a bunch of external expectations being imposed that might result in him overexerting himself. Let him get to feeling right, even if it takes a couple games into the seasonā€¦ itā€™s not like Varly isnā€™t perfectly capable of holding down the fort.

Maybe because he played for a month and a half straight with no break
