What Happened to the 18 Players Drafted Before Andrei Vasilevskiy?



The 2012 NHL draft saw two goalies taken in the first round, one of those goalies was future Hall of Fame’r, and two-time Stanley Cup champion Andrei Vasilevskiy who was drafted 19th overall to the Lightning. But who were the 18 players drafted before him? And why did those 18 teams pass on a chance to draft a future Vezina winner? In today’s video we’ll be going over all 18 players drafted before Vasilevskiy, and how their NHL hockey careers have panned out thus far.

    Andre V, Philip Forsburg and Tom Wilson.

  2. Some information is a little out of date. Faska is with St. Louis now, and Girgensons is with Tampa.

  3. Most top pick were very good in their leagues and also performed well in WJC. Still I was surprised Vasy didn't get picked in top 10. A teenager who could easily play in KHL, his athletic ability and skill reminded something of Khabibulin. Also I was certain F.Forsberg would be picked earlier.
