    noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

38, was instrumental in the Cup run. Last year of his deal. Just give him a retirement party so the guy isn’t dealing with back pain or concussions the rest of his life.

Love you Oshie. I really appreciate how he handled this, because he very clearly told the team this months ago so they could make their summer moves knowing his cap hit would be going away. If he tried a comeback like Backstrom did last year, they wouldn’t have been able to add Mangiapane.

I hope Oshie does what’s best for him and his family. His knowledge of the game is certainly a boon for the team regardless of injury.

Is anyone surprised? After all the trades and signings the Caps did in early July, it’s clear the writing was on the wall.. Oshie isn’t coming back.

I can’t buy another jersey. I have Backie and Oshie and I can’t risk jinxing anyone else.

That said, we all saw this coming and I hope he figures out a solution so he can devote all that energy to being the best dad to his kids. He’ll always be an Olympic and Caps legend and personally my favorite player.

He’s helped get us a cup. He’s been a fan fave for years. He produced at a high level. He doesn’t owe us a damn thing.

I hope he opts to save his body for his family. There’s no way he continues on without damaging his body further.

  9. Love Oshie. But this is the right decision. To be honest, it’s best for the team as well. They need to get younger and healthier. Once ovechkin cates 99 it will be time to move on from him as well. The era had to close and we are right on the doors of whatever comes next. Hopefully we can see some of the young guys develop into what we have had for the last 10+ years.

Good. The shit he can going through just to get on the ice was unsustainable. It’s a terrible injury and it gets aggravated easily just by doing stupid stuff like stepping off a curb or turning too fast, let alone playing NHL hockey.

  11. I was shocked he came back last year. Think a few of us thought that was it then.

Will miss you Oshbabe. I might have to get a 77 jersey this year now 🤔

I’m so happy Oshie has been part of this team for the last decade. A true warrior that never took a day off. Respect!

If it’s a significant back injury, this is the only thing that makes sense. I had back pain for 14 years, and I can’t imagine trying to participate in any contact sport, much less the NHL with that. I had times that just stepping off the curb wrong would put my back into spasms for a month.

I hope that he gets all the help he needs. The surgery is scary, painful, and takes a long time to recover if he goes that route. Kinda hope he does, and is able to rejoin the team in the next stage of his life, passing his knowledge to the next generation.
