At the end of the day we want Mitch to be happy with his contract- whatever the amount is. I’d give him what he wants- it’s going to be difficult replacing him. He’s one of the best right wingers in the league- and he’s from Toronto and actually wants to play here- which is a big deal in the NHL.

Cap inflation alone puts Marner at $12M if you’re using Nylander as benchmark. Obviously a lot hinges on this season and you’re clearing $11M with Tavares regardless.

Don’t give him another dime on any extension until we know we can win with you in the playoffs and you’re a factor in doing so. Otherwise you’re just gonna use up 10-12M over 5-8 years for regular season success

I like Marner the hockey player a lot. I don’t like Marner the person at all. Kid hasn’t matured at all since coming here. Doesn’t sound like he spent any time taking notes when training with Crosby this summer.
