There are two sports venues in my life where I have distinctive memories of the restrooms, for much the same reasons. The Joe, and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway which until recently had bathrooms with double sided troughs down the center of the room where you had to look the drunk on the other side in the eye and hope you didn’t have an errant stream. Oddly I miss both of those experiences.

The old Winnipeg Arena and the Winnipeg Stadium were like that too.. piss troughs along the walls lol

I think around my mid teens, I stumbled across the Joe Louis life hack of just peeing in the stalls. Most times it was faster anyway. There was still piss everywhere in the stall but at least you didn’t have to sword fight with other dudes

The trough was a rite of passage as a young Wings fan growing up, they should have enshrined one at LCA along with the rest of the sports memorabilia.

There were troughs at the Shelter and i think maybe at Tiger stadium (someone will have to confirm or correct me on that one, though).
Troughs are amusing once or twice, then you think about how many people’s piss backsplash is floating around and it’s not amusing anymore.

I just remember WASTED K-Mart Karen Newman’s from Hamtramck with cheap perms using the troughs and the guys loving it.

As a shy bladder-haver, the Joe was a nightmare to try and use the bathroom at lol.

Bellying up to the trough as a kid with a bunch of strangers dongs around eye level and trying to piss was certainly a rite of passage.

I remember more than a few times someone had thrown a Patrick Roy card into the trough. I think the last time I pissed on Roy was 2012, long after he’d been retired.

The never-ending lines in the concourse to use the damn troughs. Ohh the smell too

As a child that’s like 8/9 years old, experiencing that was literally fucking crazy. It was a fucking trough that everybody just pissed in
If you went thru that as a kid, you can piss anywhere, under any circumstances today…
