The Winnipeg Jets Open Training Camp With A Number Of Big Questions To Answer

Training camp is finally here for the Winnipeg Jets, and Cole Perfetti has yet to put pen to paper on an extension. What does this mean for his participation in the start of the season? Will the delay in signing a deal cause significant headaches for Winnipeg? How are the Jets planning to arrange their talent groupings in the camp scrimmages? Are we going to go through yet another season of Connor and Scheifele together? Will Winnipeg’s bet on the youth succeed, or crash and burn upon take-off?

  1. The price of icing a contender, is not throwing away money on a player who hasn't shown much. I think a bridge deal around 3.5M would be okay.

  2. You nailed it, Harrison. The Jets can’t afford to alienate talented youth. Dump Pionk and give Perfetti his $6 million.

  3. Kyle Connor is absolutely the most offensively gifted player on the Jets. Of course he should be on the first line with the most skilled centre on the team.
Obviously you can't introduce youth if you keep all your veterans. The Jets had to choose players like Heinola and Lambert or veteran players. I am not sure if its a great move considering how good the team defense was last season. Rookies tend to make a lot of mistakes.
