  1. Stay the course, making the playoffs just to make the playoffs is not an option and setting ourselves back years of our rebuild for a short term gain is not good managing. We still need more changes for our 3rd and 4th lines. We still have bad contracts to get rid of. Will it be easy no, we will need to sacrifice to get better. We see progression, but we do not have enough to get to the top 4 teams yet.

  2. This year should be all about development of what they have in the system to see if they are going to be future assets and work on getting bigger on the bottom end see if you have the future bottom 6 in the system now or you have to trade for it

  3. Great Daily Coach…rebuild must continue so I sell off if you can those you will not be resigning and buy a better replacement

  4. I disagree with most people, I think our team is good enough to finish in a wild card spot this year. Even if we lose in the first or second round that is all great experience for our young guys.

It's a very tough division but remember we were first or second in the league last year in 1 goal games and that was without dach, laine and hutson.

I may be too optimistic but I think the losing mentality for our club is over

  5. I have no problem walking those players to UFA…Unless you are getting a 1st round pick or significant asset, I say you hold on to the those UFAs unless the team performs way under expectations…Habs are done collecting depth assets.

  6. Hi coach. To answer your question about what the GM should do if we have a chance to make the series.
Like Eric Engels said two days ago, it looks like the canadiens would be interested in Mikko Rantanen if he’s still not sign by Colorado.
That would be a crazy move towards a cup contender team in the years to come.

  7. If they are a few points out, maybe status quo. If they hold onto Jake Evans and miss out on a 7th round pick I am not going to be worried about it. I expect that they will probably get a gross overpayment for someone like Savard. If they do, then I would take that. Otherwise I would keep him. He wants to be there, and he should get to have some Montreal playoff magic before he goes.

  8. replacing nhl talent with jr or ahl talent isnt easy .

some will be traded some will stay and others will walk to ufa.
they habs wont be making the playoffs .that would hinder the rebuild process.
they need to continue to rebuild from the top down.not the bottom up.
the bottom 6 isnt something that you should be concerned about in a rebuild situation thats in year 3.
    nor should the playoffs .

  9. Crosby is an amazing player a legend but yeah there was a negative with him and it was well known he used to whine a lot on the ice.Versus the habs in that upset playoffs he was shut down by Hal Gill and did a lot of whining.

  10. Well I can't predict the future I need to know who is available.I also need to SEE how the team plays and not just weather they make the playoffs.
In the Habs last run to the finals I stated that year they did not deserve to make the playoffs were not a good team and it showed the next year when they dropped to last.
Soooo using two scenarios IF they are playing like a playoff team then I am a buyer if tyhey are playing like a bottom team but got LUCKY to get there I am focusing on a rebuild.

  11. Either we make the playoffs or not…can we all agree here that this is the most exciting year as a habs fan ? Where we get to just enjoy hockey ? We finish on the bottom ? Another high draft pick. Finish higher ? Make the playoffs ? We get more Intel on who stays and leaves. 2 season left this season for Gallagher/Anderson cap hit of 6.5M and 5.5M. With many UFAs expiring this year as well. This year is about us playing hockey and watching the team grow. And how about Patrick Laine boys ? How about it ? Does he become the player he is meant to be ? Does life in Montreal breathe life back into him ? Does he score 40 ? Who knows ? Lane Hutson ? Let’s see what you can do baby.

    This. Is. Exciting.

    Bonne saison à tous.

  12. Super Coach— I say Stay Status Quo and if you can make the Playoffs as is… Then let it happen organically. But I will say this—- Teams need to gain playoff experience to build from… We need both Habs playoffs and Rockets playoffs ASAP… To build this Organizational experience

  13. I believe they will look at the upcoming UFA's for 2025 who fit what they need if no prospect is ready. If a player is ready, they will replace the outgoing player from within who will benefit the most.
Thanks for the update coach, maybe we can get some revenge on the Red Wings? I think they will be very tough this year.

  14. Seller. Probably Savard. Kent Hughes’s isn’t doing the Bergevin move of “just make the playoffs and hope Price carries us through”. He’s got a plan and it doesn’t involve short term moves
