[Masters] Craig Berube on Jani Hakanpää (knee): “He’s getting better. Like, he’s actually doing well. I talk to him daily about his situation & how he’s feeling & where he’s at & he’s getting better. I think it’s close. Hopefully next week he’ll be in the group with us.”

I’m expecting nothing and I’ll still be disappointed. I get they have to take gambles to find value but if the entire FO strategy is to sign injured, old, or declining players to save a few million dollars to fill out the blueline I just have such a hard time seeing it go well.

When you’re committing greater than buriable money to someone who joins the organization and says “Well it’s something we will need to manage throughout the year” on a team that spends stretches of time cap compliant by as little as thousands of dollars you need it to work.

I don’t know how they went through the Klingberg debacle last year and Treliving still thought it would be cool to bring in an obviously injured player.

Even though people will say there’s no downside since he either plays or gets LTIR’d, there’s still an opportunity cost. Plus Klingberg actually was so bad he cost the Leafs some games

Teams already talking about him like we would talk about our grandpa trying to bounce back from hip surgery

This dude shouldn’t have gotten anything above league min

Man the amount of people writing him off is astounding. His contract is burriable if need be. If he’s healthy he’ll be a solid 3rd pair. The situation with him is fine at worst

    Edit: missed word

Hope he has a good year for us. A big strong defence will help this team.

Everyone’s getting butthurt over a 1 year signing. Chill out hombres.

Good to have a guy with a big, long reach that hits out there.
Also, usually those types are good on the PK.

I liked Joel Edmunson, was hoping they would find a younger replacement.
    Hope his knee holds up.
