Theoren Fleury. If only he could’ve kept his off-ice issues at bay, he’d have accumulated better totals, have his number retired, and maybe even be in Hall of Fame contention.
PlanningMyDeath
I second Theo Fleury.
OrganicRaspberry530
If Bourque wasn’t overrated, then he definitely could be here too. If he ever found a way to iron out the consistency of his game he would have been such a stud

Sven bartschi More wasted by the organization, but sucks he never got a real shot.

Adam Fox. Stupid baby, only wanted to play in New York. I’ll boo him till he’s out of the league.
Babyblueyeti
Going to add Sven Bartschi here. After having no quality prospects for years, he scored 3 goals in his first 3 NHL games, he seemed to be the fresh face of a new era of Flames hockey. Then riffs with Hartley, laziness and concussions led to a middling NHL career.

Can we say St. Louis? Granted it was the organization that wasted his potential, but if he and Iginla had played on the same line together for most of their careers their resumes would be even more impressive.

Saying Fleury is dumb. He did everything for this franchise. You don’t like him off the ice, fine, but that kid hit his potential and more for the Flames as a hockey player.

Honorable mention to Daymond Langkow. Fluke injury during the peak of his career when he was one of our most reliable and productive forwards.

Jon Gilles for me. I remember when he won the natty with Providence. I was so stoked for him. Alas, he was just another failed goalie prospect.

Sweet-Razzmatazz-993
Most potential would have been Brett Hull.
TheMikeSweeney306
This list is way too focused on the Flames of the last 10-15 seasons. Martin St. Louis is the most wasted potential, we had a future Hall of Famer that we gave up on and then he ends up winning the Hart and then beating us for the Cup! Sam Bennett is a really solid player that can be a second liner on a title team, but he’s not putting up Hall of Fame numbers and will never win a Hart.

Wasted potential. Dillon Dube, he’s proven to be alot of things. He hasn’t played in the NHL enough to be considered a bust like Chris Chucko or Emile Poirier
Gnarly-Banks
I’m going Dube for this one, as poor decisions lead to career being tossed out the window.
What his ceiling was is trully unknown and there is definitely names in this list with much greater skill than Dube that never went that far. I will say, I was always very skeptical about the forecasting on Dube as he never really showed that much on ice in comparison to hype.
Wastage factor is high for Dube.

I agree with Martin St. Louis, but that wasn’t his choice to leave. For most wasted potential from a player, I’m gonna go with Daniel Tkaczuk the team really destroyed his confidence.
