I created this video to show that Mortiz Seider has just signed a 7 year contract with the Detroit Red Wings for $8.550 million per season. This is an incredible contract for the Detroit Seider. Seider is one of the most complete defensemen in the NHL and he is only going to continue to get better. By year three of this contract, Seider is going to be underrated in my opinion. I really hope that the Detroit Red Wings will make the playoffs this season because Seider’s style of play is perfect for playoff hockey. I predict that Moritz Seider will get over 60 points this season.

That Darnell Nurse deal could've wrecked the cap space of competitive teams if it became the benchmark for defensemen salary. Thank god Yzerman got Seider's as low as he did.
Would have been nice to get him at 8 like Raymond. But Makar at 9 is insane.
What the NHL needs is a new award for best defensive defenseman. The Norris has turned into the best offensive defenseman.
The analytics don't like him — but everyone who has watched him nearly every game for the past three seasons does! He plays with a maturity beyond his years.

Seider has one of the worst analytics for defensemen this last season. Quite the overpay he got. One of the contracts that will anchor the wings for years now.
I don't care so much when it comes to his point production, that's a bonus, it's his body and knowing how to use it and where to place it that makes me want to see him on the ice game after game. Even his "bad games" are still better than other players good games
To think that the pylon Nurse in Edmonton is making 9.5 says it all at just how good of a signing this is.

I love analytics and think they can tell a lot about a player and a team. That being said, I think Mo is the perfect example of how they don't tell the whole story and can only represent so much. Maybe I'm bias, but watching him for the last 3 years I can tell you he IS a 1 D-man in this league.
It’s NOT a steal – in this environment, it reasonable. Players unless you are on Toronto, realize that to get and hold your middle and bottom 6’s, you cannot demand $11-15MM for one player!!! If a player cannot live on $8MM a year for 7 years – he’s is in HUGE trouble. Since the average man make less than $3MM in his lifetime – I think $60MM can provide a pretty good living – FOREVER!!!
