Boston Bruins Preseason Game 1 Breakdown

The Boston Bruins played their first preseason game against the New York Rangers and lost 3-2.

Now, it’s only a reason game, so the score and the fact they lost shouldn’t really matter. What does matter is how the players who want to make the big club played, particularly Brandon Bussi, Fabian Lysell, and Murkulov.

Bussi didn’t play like a guy who could make the Boston Bruins if Swayman isn’t signed.

I give my thoughts on the game’s highs and lows. There were some highs but, unfortunately, more lows.

Hopefully, the next game will see the likes of David Pastrnak, Charlie McAvoy, and Elias Lindholm.

  1. well that game sucked on so many levels… where is the new guy they have now.?? ..It hurt to see my guys loose…I am quite sure that Bossi will get better..

  2. For the most part I agree with you 100%. What did impress me about Merkulov is he can pass, made some nifty passes when he wasn't giving the puck away. As a line I really liked the "4th" line the best yesterday.

  3. Agree with you about Lysell. He was mostly invisible and rarely won battles along boards. I disagree about Merkulov. Though he did have some turnovers he was taking offensive zone draws in the third and won at least two of three. His skill will be more noticeable with more skill players on ice. Sweezy also looked good on D.
