To be fair to the Pens social media team Jesse Puljujarvi scored his hat trick against a fairly strong Sabres team. Buffalo only have two games before the NHL squad heads to Europe so need to play their expected NHL roster. Their forwards against Pittsburgh was their 1st line, 2nd line, 4th line and three prospects. The D was the full team except the injured Dahlin and UPL played all 60 minutes.
Russ had a good point ( I can’t believe I’m saying that ) , as good as Mitchkov was, I would like to see him shoot on net. And I think overall he will need to work on his shot at the NHL. The goaltending is just much better there than the KHL. But his passing, awareness and IQ are tops.
Disagree on Russ (and many peoples) take. I think tipp and frost are the two best options for MM on the roster. they burst from zone to zone and back off the defense. Letting slower rookie to gain the zone after. Simple drop pass or cross ice trailer plays to MM and watch him cook. Forget coots and foerster. They are primed for matchups vs other offences
Frost said that playing with MM would force him to shoot more. It doesn’t really matter where the goals come from so long as they come. Watching MM create on the PP was pretty impressive (granted against AHL talent) but definitely something that’s been missing. I still have realistic expectations for the season but it should be fun to watch them gel. Let’s go Flyers!
We have to let MM feel his way through his first NHL season. Cant nip pick. We can already see the difference he makes.

To be fair… the Caps AHL team (Hershey Bears) won the Calder Cup…
